...of alcohol meant that we saw PaRud engaged in an un-planned heart-to-heart about the things that mattered to them the most. But there were other things to love about the episode too. Like:
# The ending of the dance and the picture PaRud made completely lost in each other. So much so that the applause was an intrusion, breaking the spell, and leaving them suddenly self-conscious and awkward and desperate to get away from all eyes.
# Rudra's admonishment to Singh Saab about the strength of the drinks he was making these days. And Singh Saab's comeback about Rudra being a strong boy.
# Paro's face softening as she recalled that Rudra had saved her life.
# The intriguing discrepancy between Paro's one and Rudra's two first-meetings. For Paro, the second meeting with Rudra was just that - the second time she met him. To her, they were still essentially the same people they'd been when their buses drew up fifteen years previously, just older. But to Rudra, they were different people meeting for the first time just months before.
# Paro's plea to Singh Saab to take Rudra back into the BSD for her sake. And Singh Saab's hand-on-her-head reassurance that he would as soon as the report was tabled. In that moment she managed to make a place for herself in Singh Saab's heart.
# Rudra realising they were plastered and fetching water for Paro.
# Rudra, in spite of knowing he was high as a kite, swigging from a bottle all the way up to their room.
# Rudra rescuing Paro from her precarious seat on the banister.
# Paro wanting to see the sights. Rudra promising to show her the sights, and leading her to their bedroom. 😆
# Rudra managing to remove at least one item of Paro's outfit before the night was over: he unbuckled one dainty slipper off his Cinderella's foot.
# Rudra admitting he felt bad when he hurt her.
# Rudra, brandishing her slipper like a gun, threatening, his eyes darting to her lips, to do something awful to her if she didn't stop calling him Major Saab.
# Paro, unmoved by the threat, telling him that she knew he tried to be nasty to her so that she'd hate him. But that his eyes always gave him away. And when she read his pain, repentance and worry for her, she loved him even more - once, twice, ten times, a hundred times...infinitely more!
After last night's red-hot dance the CVs took pity on us tonight and gave us low-key, mellow and emotionally-intimate romance. Tonight, the intoxication took a liquid form and lowered PaRud's defences. So that we saw some frank confessions - of caring and feeling her pain, by Rudra, although he still didn't know why he felt bad when she was hurt. And of love, by Paro. There were loosened inhibitions. Yet under all that levity were strong undercurrents of seriousness. Like Paro begging Singh Saab to give Rudra back his job; confessing that she could cry when Rudra is hurt; Rudra telling her not take him seriously; wishing he'd never met her; and Paro telling him she loved him despite his worst attempts to scare her off.
And by the looks of the precap, we are in for more romance tomorrow night. Meanwhile, looks like the next track is already being laid. And so we saw Mythili risking her well-being by being caught tailing Devyani. There'll be hell to pay now that Kakisa has been informed.
In all, tonight's was a decent episode, adding a new shade to the honeymoon track, albeit lacking the scorching intensity of the previous episode, but lifted by PaRud's shared confessions.
Acting was stellar. Sanaya drew the eyes in her comi-serious essaying of an inebriated, talkative Paro, and Ashish was endearing as the morose but malleable and drunk Major Saab. 👏👏👏 to them, to the actor who plays Singh Saab, and the actress who plays Mythili for their strong performances.
Now if only Rudra would displace Paro's hand during their kiss tomorrow - he'd earn the enduring gratitude of the legions of PaRud fans!! 😆
