"Aankhein na kholoon main, shayad sapna ho."
Translation: I am not going to open my eyes because I don't want to know if its a dream or if its reality.
Its rather strange that nobody has ever brought up this point before ( if someone has, my apologies , as i do not read maximum stuff on the forum due to time constraints and some other constraints ) - Have you ever wondered or realized that Rudra is not only Paro's husband , soulmate and saviour - he is also her first and only window to the world. Like Oldestfan once mentioned it, Paro is somewhat of a mystic - i mean unearthly , isolated from the world and its machinery , like Rapunzel in the tower who knew nothing of the world until her prince came along. Paro - a naive , pious , protected village girl who is not a literate , who has not known anything outside her envelope , who has only seen a fictitious spring and never the winter of the cruel world , who has seen the globe only in the size of Birpur...a vulnerable princess who cannot tell dusk from dawn once she steps out of her pumpkin chariot.
And then, Rudra entered her life and unleashed the real world to her - cold, cruel. warm, sunny, colourful, fascinating , frustrating yet exhilarating. He showed Paro the world outside her tower , away from her pumpkin chariot and hid her glass slippers. The experience was not a fairytale at all but it became Paro's story ... and with that Paro's whole life not only became wrapped around Rudra , it also became completely dependent on him. Dependent to such an extent that today even when Paro breathes , she breathes with the assurance that Rudra will not allow anyone to stop her breathing.
Today's episode is an in-your-face reminder of all that I have mentioned above. Rudra telling Kaaki Sa to back off from Paro to a point that he threatens her with dire consequences and Paro letting Rudra do that, Rudra taking Paro by the hand ( in effect and not in action ) and guiding her through the hotel staff, the elevator, the functioning of the room card to his small tutorials on the AC, television, the congratulatory message on the bouquet for their wedding , the bathrobe, the shower and all that jazz- all of this is beautiful and depressing at the same time. Beautiful because Rudra is Paro's guide, mentor , saviour - someone who is taking care of her like a baby at every step of the way. It sad because when you see the extent of Paro's dependence on Rudra as far as ' world connections and emotional dependence ' are concerned , you dread the day when Rudra will not be around. The terror on Paro's face in the precap when she can't find Rudra anywhere is just a teaser into what her world will look like. If this was a piece of literature , then, Rudra walking out of the hotel room and taking the card with him would be a metaphor for Rudra taking the sunshine away from Paro's life by leaving her alone.
That said, Paro was an adorable Alice in Wonderland today. It was like Rapunzal's prince taking her out of the tower and showing her the world. Innocence meeting the candyshop of the world is the best way to describe the joy, the curiosity , the wonder she felt on seeing so many new things for the very first time. Small things like chocolates, the congratulatory card , the swinging of the AC, the song on the TV set , the lovely candles and Rudra's presence and voice guiding and guarding her- all these are very small things but when has Paro's happiness been about gilded marbles?
Coming to Rudra, the boy was quite a revelation today. He catches your attention the moment he reacts to Paro's wound by asking her instantly - Did i cause this wound? Its quite a step forward for him to acknowledge and admit that he is capable of physically harming Paro. Rudra's patient hearing of Paro's explanation as he puts Burnol on her wound , the way he goes marching to Mohini's room and tells her in no uncertain terms that a scratch on Paro could mean trauma ward for everyone else, his verbal emphasis that whatever his equation with Paro, he will always stand between her and trouble, his lone introspection into why he felt emotionally stung when he saw Paro wounded and trying to process what he is thinking ( the hand on the wall is what am referring to here ) , and his calm and composed order to Paro to pack her clothes because he doesn't want his blood pressure doing somersaults worrying about her- all of this is a reflection of the change that is coming over Rudra - a change that sometimes infuriates him and sometimes turns him into a cool water spray.
And ya, what is not to be missed is that how aware Rudra is of Paro as a woman. The way he looks at Paro when she clutches his arm in darkness and his eyes linger on her even after the lights come on is a teaser into his attraction towards his wife.
For the rest of it, i don't have much to say on the bathroom tutorial because it was so innocent and so well executed, that you can just see it and enjoy and maybe facepalm a little as well.
Two moments stand out in today's episode:
1. Rudra's instant reaction to Paro's wound - " Ye mujhse hua hai kya?"...its a leap for Rudra's character who never acknowledges the damage that he does verbally. It was genuine and he looked worried.
2. Paro taking the congratulatory card of her and Rudra's wedding and slipping it into the suitcase. She cannot read English but she knows what it says and it made her bloom like a rose.
Precap? Awww... that's the kind of love poets and writers love weaving word-embroideries about.
That is all for tonight, ladies and gentlemen. 😃
