It's not often that the director of a Best Film also wins Best Director. But readers voted Mehra, the director of 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', as the Best Director with 37% of the votes polled. The Hindi film industry was never known for organised filmmaking, but over the years the scenario has changed a lot. Now, the industry has tilted more in favour of people who have big pockets. The process of filmmaking has become less important than its publicity drive and big studios are emerging as the champions of this art. However, every now and then we come across films which showcase fantastic content and get benefited by the word-of-mouth publicity.
In a completely new category rarely recognised at mainstream film awards, our Best Independent Film category got great response from our readers. They who voted 'Maazii' as the Best Independent Film of last year. All categories will be announced over the next two days. Watch this space.
