RR writers: PLEASE use one of your biggest assets!

The asset I am talking about is the lead actress Sanaya Irani- a proven talent who not only has beauty but the acting chops, charisma and screen presence to match it. She is one of the major reasons why this show got so much hype and media/fan attention when it took off. She has a huge fan following and no, it's not just because of the IF rankings but seeing first hand the reception she gets overseas. She is a very popular face among the younger audience, which I assume is RR's target audience. So it is a shame they are not taking advantage of her to help the show reach it's full potential in terms of storytelling and TRPs.
They shouldn't be surprised that the "hate marriage" ratings tanked after they used this asset as a prop the whole week. Having her react to every scene with no continuity. How are we supposed to feel her pain and tears if they don't build it up the way they do with Rudra? She went from being a sensible girl to a stubborn and clingy one to a blushing bride. She was changing as often as Rudra was having meltdowns. We were never given the opportunity to see how and why she was changing. Is she a zombie with no feelings? How can she be fine with marrying a guy who was willing to do anything to get rid of her, who called her shameless, who vows to never care for her? I'm sure she is not fine but they will never let us get that insight on her. Sanaya's portrayal of Paro in the initial episodes was so emotional and heartbreaking. We all know she can emote beautifully and get us to feel her pain so don't even try to suggest otherwise.
I just hope they realize it is not going to work if she turns into a supporting cast member who takes a backseat to Rudra's story. It is absolutely necessary for the audience to relate to the female lead. For me, that connection was lost after the maha episode. After that, I haven't been able to enjoy any episode to the fullest. I'm sorry but I don't want to "understand" Paro by coming to this forum and reading the in-depth posts analyzing her. I appreciate the effort but that is the job of the writers. They were doing fine in the beginning when there was more balance so hopefully they can rectify their mistakes. Chill out with the overdose of Rudra and focus on building Paro because this is supposed to be PaRud's story and we need to be able to relate to both of them to enjoy their love story. Otherwise, you will face the danger of losing your niche audience too.
I will conclude by saying that I have been at this place long enough to know how it works. That is why I am apprehensive about sharing how I truly feel. There are a few of us who are just honest viewers of the show, giving feedback because we want the best for this show so that it can reach its potential. There are some who live in a bubble and refuse to be objective or real about the flaws of the show because they want to counteract the other group who are always hanging around, waiting to just jump in and criticize the show (mainly the female lead) because they happen to have some sort of a personal grudge against her. It's a vicious cycle of never-ending drama and I have enough problems in my real life to get worked up over this. So I won't talk about it again until I see a change. This is my last plea to the writers. Convince me that this really is a love-hate story between TWO characters. Or maybe I should accept the fact that the writers of this show simply can't understand or capture the thoughts, feelings and complexity of women. I don't know why I still go into these shows expecting a difference.
P.S. I was going to post this in NB's thread but it was closed on her request, which is a shame because her post was so wonderfully stated.

Agree on your points. Everything that has to be said is already told by members in NB's post. Yeah me too think, if they want to see TRP audience's response to the new fun-romance track, they will have to wait one more week.

PS. Agree about understanding Paro. When i was feeling bad how Paro's character is inconsistent, i read several posts which vehemently backed Paro. After some thorough reading only i was sufficiently convinced that i could wait out to see how she reacts to the indifferent Rudra. 2 weeks had gone after that, and what is keeping me hooked are some good scenes which are well executed. Overall tracks are still not satisfying. I feel the nice flow of the show in initial months are faltering because makers are trying to make this palatable to TRP audience. I would also like to see RR getting good ratings, but not at the cost of losing the nice story it promised.

Thanks Pri. So that post wasn't a disaster after all. I'm going to be brutally honest. I'm fed up with how this show has become all about hero worshipping. Diya rightly mentioned, the reason the writers haven't shown Paro's sadness is because they want people to sympathise with Rudra's pain. The moment Paro breaks down Rudra's pain is undermined. So basically they are building a larger than life male lead. For the sake of one character the whole essence of the story is lost.

I can at least understand the reasons behind doing it if it gets good ratings. It doesn't. So what's the harm in giving other characters some much needed focus?

okay i did not know what post u r talkung about coz i was not here during the day but agree with the above points . for example i told u about my mom who is typical trp viewer who like saathiya n all these shows n she is not really intrested in the show just watch it with me n the reason is the same that she does not sympathise with her coz paro dont get that types scenes whether we admit it or not the thing is imp for trp. i m not saying that the story telling is wrong or something i just want them to be equals like the way rudra got to show his emotions . it should be same for paro. i guess then story will also be more exiting.
p.s. its just purely my opinion not any suggestion.

A very much needed post !!!
Pri can u tweet this to ST and GH ?!?!
Why do all the craps happen with Sanaya's characterization !?!?
I am seriously fed up by this step motherly attitude towards Paro's character development ...
I only watch the show to see Sanaya emote beautifully onscreen !!! She is a gem of an actor and as usual CVs are exploiting her just like the previous disastrous PH to glorify male lead's character , the only saving grace with this PH is Paro getting gorgeous outfits unlike the previous one where the sis in law hogged all of it in costume department !!

I've been saying it for a while but I'll say it again... No wants this story they are telling. It's been done a million times. Innocent girl, arrogant hero hate marries her... where have we heard that before. And it's worse that Irani was a part of the exact same story not long ago. Why would I want to see her doing the same thing again? I've seen her do it once and that was great. Now it seems repetitive and every scene is deja vu.
I think Irani shouldn't have taken up a role too similar to the one she already did. I think the type casting and comparison and feelings of dejavu coupled with a lifeless story are the cause for RRs abysmal ratings.

Really apprciate your long post with detailed explanation.
I bookmarked NB's thread to comment later and came to know from you that it is closed!

I am not a regular hindi serial viewer. After IPK RR is the only show which I follow and of course I was pulled in due to Sanaya but Ashish also turned out to be surprise package!

I have not given much thought like you or NB but I also sensed some inconsistencies with Paro's characterization. (Clear example is she smiling at GrihPravesh after the hate marriage!)

But I doubt if that's the only cause for low TRPs!

I have my own misgivings abt teh whole TRP calculation. I would really like to know how they are calculated today.

Earlier they used TAM meters probably only in Mumbai and from these meters TRPs were calculated and Many times also manipulated. Shutdown of NDTV Imagine is a classic example of the flaw in calculating TRPs.

Abt the slot- 9.30 PM There is dedicated audience already hooked on to 9.30 PM shows like Qubool hai, YRKKH . Grabbing an already established audience is very challenging.

Another problem is for me it's my Kid's sleeping time. So I can rarely catch the show when it is aired.

Respect your opinion. But can't a agree with you. I watch show because I am a hardcore fan of asish. Focusing on sanaya and adding stories around her alone may not work. Case on point chanchal.

Hi K dear 🤗
@bold: Your post was perfect, it totally spoke to me and made complete sense and more. That is the kind of constructive criticism and feedback that is actually helpful. You and Diya are on target, they definitely want us to sympathize with Rudra, which would lessen if more focus was put on Paro's pain. It's a shame they don't realize that a promoted love story won't work if we just relate to one person's pain over the other. All the early reviews of the show gave high praise to Sanaya because she competently delivered the scenes of Paro's emotional journey and pain. And planning the story around Rudra's character hasn't exactly taken the show anywhere ratings wise. Maybe they should just focus on satisfying the niche audience they created in the beginning, when there was more balance.
