This video was just so appalling to watch but that is the harsh reality which women face daily in India. We can all blame the infestation of item numbers but the root cause is the mentality we were brought up with. The thought that men are superior than women. No matter what status you belong to ,be it rich or middle class or lower income class, Indians have always believed in a patriarchal society and men being the supreme power. Its always been told that "Beti paraya dhan hoti hai" or you can't do this you aren't a guy.

I agree men and women are not created equal. We weren't created equal physically, emotionally, psychologically (women were better at some stuff and men at some) but shouldn't our moral sense come into play when it concerns a persons basic human rights. Why is it that the respect for an individual and her rights not imbibed in our brains when we are still kids? Even if boys are not told that they are equal to girls atleast educate the boys that they are in no way inferior to them and deserve as much respect as anyone else.

What sucks big time is the government. The laws are relaxed when it comes to harassment, marital rapes aren't even crime, eve teasing is part and parcel of day to day life. The govt just says ladies are not safe, wear decent clothes, behave appropriately, n then it gives us a separate compartment and seats in public transport. Is that even possible to provide safety for women by segregating them from men. What happens when you get out of that safe zone, are we even educated about the personal space which is not supposed to be encroached by anyone? Where is the respect for ones person space.

When it comes to Item numbers , I can't totally blame them. I don't support lewd actions and lyrics at all and detest most of the item numbers but I don't blame the one's who acted in them. They are also doing their job. If they don't do it someone else be hired. Its impossible for all ladies to stand up and say they won't do an item number. The thing is that in India sex is a taboo, so its shown in such a way that its demeaning to women and something which men have to force women to do. Doing things forcefully is a proof of manliness/mardangi. If this outlook changes, then maybe things will change for better.

Like India has its share of perverts, it also has its share of men who really respect and look after their women,I was blessed to be born in one such family. So every time someone generalizes and curses all Indian men ,I do cringe a bit but looking at this video I don't blame ppl who do that.

LOL, I don't understand why do people get so worked up when it comes to religion 😆

I did not even say Islam is bad. I said people who misinterpret it for their wicked ways are.

All I said was countries that have strick non sexual media also face a lot of gender in equality so people can not entirely blame Bollywood and its over sexualised content

Western nations have sexualised media aswell but are not facing these problems at such a great extent.

A lot of these gender inequality issues existed long before Bollywood.

It's not the religion, it all depends on the people. Yes, these countries are ranked as the worst place to be a woman. In UAE , a Muslim country woman gets paid as much as pain, but in U.S. we women get paid less than men. See ...We have a lot to forward in terms of right. This video makes me proud to live in America and be an American. I rather live in U.S. than in India anyday. At least, I can count on the cops to ask for help even though we might have our own problems and might not be perfect.

This is truely shocking!
Indian men have no shame left to them, at homes they pray to the godesses and celebrate Rakhsha Bandhan and outside they stare at girls private parts, do eve teasing and manhandle.
Indian ppl (specially the elder ones) talk abt sanskar but they forgot to give some of them to their sons too.
Talking abt BW's part in this I think bollywood has a great effect on the countries population as films have always been the preffered pastime. We don't only watch the movies but imitate actors and their fashion and behavior (onscreen and offscreen). Recently I was watching DID and this kid in the auditions knew each and every dialogue of BW stars. It's obvious he also takes the mannerism and not only dialogue.
Ppl dance to these disgusting lyrics, and after listening to something so many times it surely permeates and if the content shows someone as supirior it can even be active internalization.
Personally I think that actors saying disgusting dialogues and ending up looking heros, while the heroines standing in a line to do nonsense items songs is the height!!!
I think we, the audiances (men and women) must boycott such content, that's the only way to stop this sexual objectification.
