A Damaging Truth The Indian Entertainment Industry Doesn't Want You To Know

I found this to be quite interesting.

Most people are happily ignorant of the fact that they're being force fed daily with high doses of "Sexual Objectification of Women". Sexual objectification is the concept of treating a person merely as an object or instrument of sexual pleasure, tagging them as sex objects'.

While men's sexuality is always showcased as subjective' (or as a whole package viz. intelligence, smartness, attitude and maybe looks), women's sexuality is portrayed objectively. And nothing defines this better than the video above rightly titled "No Country For Women".

When Amitabh Bacchan asks us to get polio drops, we listen and we act & imitate.

When Salman Khan pinches the bottom of a stranger (girl) walking down the streets in a movie scene, the crowd smiles, whistles and learns. Then they imitate.

When Aamir Khan raises his voice against female foeticide, we become enraged, officials raid illegal sex determination centers, we spread the good message. We imitate.

When filmmakers make movies sexually objectifying women, people buy tickets and dance to the tunes of "Baby Doll". We dare them to make a movie sexually objectifying religious Goddesses.

Would you still dance to that tune? Food for thought.

Yeah Bollywood is going down the drain. but some good films break through
Funny really because in the late 70's, 80's and 90's Bollywood really had some descent stories.

From family dynamics, divorce, affairs, drug/alcohol abuse, sexuality, death, war, poverty.

Think with the 2000's came excess and commercialism. Sometimes I feel like I am just watching one big commercial with no descent plot but just showcasing the latest trends in pop culture, from clothing, dance, music and mannerisms.

They even use to have movies showcasing Indian classical dances. They don't even do that much anymore.

It's become very commercialised and somewhat imitating MTV.

OMG just shocked!
Some of these videos are heartbreaking and I can't believe those guys continue while people are filming. What pleasure do they get by ripping off a girl's clothes in public. Horrible.

Some of those BW clips are shameful. BW can't be held solely responsible however they need to stop romanticising eve teasing and the bad boy chasing a girl. How many times have we seen a story where the girl doesn't like the guy yet he is persistent and wins her over. How sick is that, when a girl says NO it should be understood as a NO. Yet we laugh at those moments and cheer for the guy to get the girl. This needs to be stopped. How is it any different from telling a guy that don't worry keep on chasing the girl in real life some day she will end up falling in love with you and you will change and live happily ever after. That Akshay scene with Sonashki was disgusting, where he goes he tried but couldn't stop himself from pinching her stomach. What message is that sending that it is ok if you can't control yourself the girl will forgive and in fact she will fall in love with you. Being a girl Sonashki should have put her foot down on such a scene. Same with Ayesha in that Wanted scene. In one clip he says to a girl and slaps her because she doesn't respect women but before that he was staring into a window and "checking out" Ayesha Takia's bottom. Why is this ok and allowed to be shown, is it because Salman Khan is doing the scene and because he is a star and if stars do it then it is fine.

Edit: I should have added this before, but all actors male and female, should object to such scenes. The directors and writers write this so the only people who will have leverage over them would be top male stars. They should put a stop to this.

This video was really shocking. Seeing some the Bollywood scenes were disgusting. None of this occurred to me on such a deep level until I saw this video. Yes it's not entirely Bollywood's fault, but rather largely the society and country we live in. But Bollywood should not be promoting such deeds through the films. The world is a disgusting place. I was surprised to read that India is the worst country for a woman to reside in. That line enough says a whole lot more. A lot of people look into Bollywood films as inspiration. "Oh my favorite actor did this, so it's morally right for me to do it too." These films should bring about awareness that such deeds should NOT be done. Unfortunately you can't entirely blame the industry. It's the culture, society, that we all live in today. Nasty, disgusting, and just plain sick.

A woman should be able to walk out of her house wearing whatever she feels comfortable and not having men 'hit' on her or pass such stupid remarks. A woman should have every right to live her life without fear...without hesitation..without the thinking that if she steps out of the house in a certain way she will be mocked and possibly subject to rape.

I don't know how this will end in India, but firstly Bollywood needs to stop with all of these derogatory scenes. Some of the scenes were plain sick!
