Hey Guys today is 14th April. In my country Bangladesh its celebrated as the first day of Bangla New year which is 1st Baishak "Pohela Baishak". And many of u must know that Bangla Calendar was started by Akbar. There is a article published today in one of the dailies of my country wanted to share it with u guys.
" Mughal Emperor Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar - the third Mughal Emperor introduced the Bengali New Calendar for relatively easier tax collection, as the lunar Hijri Calendar did not agree with the harvest sessions. Primarily this calendar was named as "Fazli San" and then Bongabdo or Bangla Year was launched in March 1584. Akbar ordered to resolve all dues on the last day of Chaitra; as the next day was the first day of the New Year, the day for a new opening ; landlords would distribute sweets among their tenants, while businessmen would do the same for their customers as they commenced a "Halkhata" (new ledger) and locked their old ones. The air of festivity and fervour gradually turned Pahela Baishak into a major celebration "
In another article it was written Akbar made the Bangla Calendar with the help of his astronomer Fateullah Sirajee.

I m reading this since childhood that Akbar started the Bangla Calendar but never gave much thought to it. "Pohela Baishak" is the biggest festival in my country. It celebrated very grandly all over the country especially in Dhaka. The art department of Dhaka University brings out a colorful raily named "Mongol Shovajatra". Hundreds of people from all walks of life join this rally to be part of this celebration. It has beacome a very beautiful and important part of our culture. Many foreigners come to see this festival.
All this is happenings thnks to him. He started this Bangla Calendar and gave us a beautiful day to celebrate. I never realized this but thnks to this show I m now realizing it. Aww I just love him.
Abhay pls if possible give some info on this.
Shuvo Noboborsho to everyone. Happy Bangla New Year.
