Deepika turns down Rishi's offer to do an item number

In an interview with Stardust magazine, Subhash Ghai revealed that Rishi Kapoor wanted none other than Deepika Padukone to do an item number in their upcoming film Kanchi. However, Deepika on the other side had no plans to accept that offer and did her best to chicken out!

He said, "Rishi Kapoor insisted on Deepika Padukone. I thought the song should be picturised on her. I refused but he dialled her thinking I can't get her, and put her on me. She also didn't know what to say. So she spoke to me and asked for time to think. She turned it down saying she has been offered many such songs and if she says yes to me, she has to say yes to others too. I felt so relieved! Main darr raha tha ki agar woh haan kar degi to main mar jaoonga. Kanchi ke aage agar Deepika khadi hui to mere heroine ko kaun dekhega?"

It's funny how Rishi suggested Deepika's name of all the people especially after the famous Sonam Kapoor & Deepika Padukone Koffee with Karan episode which stirred up a lot of controversy which ended with Rishi calling them immature and lashing out for all their digs at son Ranbir Kapoor!
