Tanu's nympho act in Raqueeb...

Tanushree Dutta certainly believes in experimenting with different roles. She accepted Raj Kanwar's Raqueeb, directed by Anurag Singh and according to the producer she plays a nymphomaniac.

Bold, bold, bold…

Says Raj Kanwar, "This is the first time that an actress is doing such a bold role. It's bolder than what Mallika Sherawat has done till now and will break all barriers.

Tanushree is playing three different characters in Raqueeb out of which one is a nymphomaniac. It was very challenging for Tanushree to play such a role. We have shot hot bedroom and kissing scenes."

Raj Kanwar says it was difficult for Tanushree to accept such a role initially. "She was very nervous about portraying a bold woman but when I narrated her the whole story, she was extremely excited.

Raqueeb means rivals in love as one woman has many lovers. It's a film on trust, betrayal and murder. At many times during the shoot, I had to explain to her that what she's playing is not Tanushree herself but just a role."

Kanwar, who has written the story, adds, "There was a day when Tanu had to do two different bedroom scenes — one with Rahul Khanna and the other with Jimmy Sheirgill, but she managed."

No such thing

Tanushree, however, denies playing any nymphomaniac character in the film. She says, "Does Raj Kanwar even know the meaning of nymphomaniac?

Though my character, Sophie is a negative one, there is neither any sex angle in the film nor any intimate lovemaking scenes. In fact, when I was asked to perform such lovemaking scenes, I refused.

I don't appreciate the way the producer is promoting the film. Raqueeb has a strong plot and strong performances and Raj Kanwar doesn't need to resort to such brash publicity."
