EK ANOKHI KAHAANI - Part 24

Aastha opened her eyes. She was tired of sleeping. She checked her mobile screen to know that it was 6:30 am. She was feeling quite better now. She sat up on the bed and smiled for no reason. She was missing going to office and working on the project with her team. She was missing having lunch and coffee with Shruti and Aakash, though they came to meet her daily. She was missing Avi's flirting and Dolly's chit-chat. She was missing Sonali's taunts and Shikha's support. She was missing the lobby and the talks with Mansi. She was missing Rahul's care and understanding. She was missing driving her bike. And the most important, she was Missing Shlok..! She was missing his scoldings, his anger, his irritation. She was missing his orders and warnings. She was missing his teasers and taunts. She was missing his care for her though he called her everyday to enquire about her health. Now she was bored sitting at home.

It was about 8 am. Kalindi entered Aasth'a room with tea. She was surprised to see that Aastha was not in her bed. Just then Aastha came out having a bath.
"Arey waah! Aaj itni jaldi naha liya?!!" asked Kalindi surprised. Took bath so early today?! "Office jaana ho toh bhi itni jaldi nahi nahaati ho..." she teased. You don't bathe so early even when you have to go to office.
"I am going to office today Aai..." declared Aastha as she dried her hair with the towel. "Don't forget to keep my tiffin ready...!" she added.
"But Aastha, you are not perfectly well yet... you should rest for a day or two more...!" suggested Kalindi.
"No Aai, I am very bored now... I need to go out... I will feel better! And there is no better place than my office!" she said smiling. Ofcourse Kalindi understood Aastha's boredom due to inactiveness. And she very well knew that Aastha wont listen now if told to stay at home.
Kalindi went away after placing the cup of tea on the table.

Shlok was getting ready. He was about to go take bath but he suddenly stopped and picked up his phone on the table. He felt like talking to Aastha. He opened the call logs. The last called number was Aastha's. He was about to dial the number but he didn't. "Kal raat ko hi toh baat ki hai uss se... If I call her again now, she might get irritated. Also she may be sleeping... I shouldn't call her now..." he thought as he kept the phone away. "Don't know when she will start coming to office again... Anyways, why should I care...? She will come whenever she gets well..." he thought as he went to take bath. He couldn't stop thinking of Aastha. "Hope she gets well soon..."

Kalindi was waiting for Aastha to come down. "Why isn't Aastha ready yet?" wondered Kalindi and she went to Aastha's room to check. Kalindi was shocked to see the bed covered with huge pile of dresses. Aastha was standing in front of the mirror checking each dress one by one, confused as which one to wear.
"Aastha, what is all this?" asked Kalindi confused. Aastha never took so much time to get ready.
"Aai, I am very confused which dress to wear... Ab tu hi bata na..." said Aastha comparing two dresses in her hand. "I know your choice...!" she said showing the blue dress in her hand. "You always say that this dress suits me very well... So I will wear this one...!! I will be ready in two minutes!!" said Aastha. Kalindi left wondering what could be the reason behind this sudden change.

After some time Aastha came down and everyone kept looking at her. She was looking beautiful in the sky-blue dress, with matching ear-rings and bangles. And for a change, she had also applied kajal today.
"Arey waah! Aaj toh meri bati bohot khoobsurat lag rahi hai...!!" commented Avdhoot. Aastha blushed. Kalindi knew exactly what was this transformation for. She could make out that Aastha was attracted towards Shlok. And all this was just for him. She didn't say anything. She couldn't deny that Aastha was looking beautiful today. She went towards Aastha.
"Aai, yeh sab kya hai?"
"Nazar utaar rahi hoon tumhaari...!" said Kalindi as she put a mark of kajal behind Aastha's ear.
"Okay, I must leave now...!" said Aastha putting the tiffin in her sachel.
"Take care beta..." said Avdhoot. "And go with Aakash today. Don't drive."
"Okay Baba...!" said Aastha.
"Aastha!" called Kalindi, "Did you take the strips of medicines with you?"
"Yes Aai... don't worry...!" said Aastha as she took out her phone to call Aakash. Just then she saw Aakash coming out of the gate.
"Aakash!!" she called out. Aakash stopped.
"And don't forget to take the medecines after lunch!!!" reminded Kalindi.
"Haan Aai, I won't forget!!! Now bye...!!" said Aastha as she walked toward Aakash, who was waiting there on his bike.

Aakash saw Aastha walk towards him and he just kept looking at her... She was looking so beautiful.
"Aise kya dekh rahe ho?" asked Aastha. What are you looking at?
"You are looking gorgeous..." he said, still lost in her.
She just turned his face away with her palm saying, "Now look in front and drive...!!" And she laughed. "Thanks Aakash" thought Aastha, "I want to hear the same from Shlok..."
Aakash smiled as Aastha sat behind him. They left for the office.

Avdhoot too left for work. Kalindi looked a bit worried. Ajju came to her...
"What happened Kalindi? You look worried..."
"Aai, you too must have noticed how Aastha is attracted towards Shlok Agnihotri..."
"Yes, I have observed that... But I also noticed how Shlok cared for her..." said Ajju.
"Aai, I am worried for Aastha. You know she is very innocent... and very sensitive too..." said Kalindi. "Yeh bade ghar ke bete... inka koi bharosa nahi hota... These big names are never to be trusted and Aastha doesn't understand it yet... He is caring for her today, tomorrow he will care for someone else... These are just momentary feelings... Aastha shouldn't fall prey to them... I know her very well, she wont be able to handle a heart-break..." Kalindi was very worried.
Ajju could understand her worry. And she agreed with Kalindi.
"Yes Kalindi, you are right... Humaari bachchi bohot bholi hai... Woh yeh sab baatein nahi samajhti..."
"Aai, main aaj hi uss se iss baare mein baat karti hoon...! I will talk to her when she returns... And I will have to talk to Avdhoot too...!"
Ajju agreed. "But be cautious... don't hurt her... okay?"
"Aai, How can I hurt her? I will surely take care of that..."

Here, Shlok reached office and the first question he asked Mansi was "Has Aastha come today?"
He got the reply he didn't want... a "No"...!! He just sighed and began walking towards his cabin when he saw Aakash and Aastha through the window. This time he didn't envy Aakash... Because he just couldn't think of him at the moment... He was lost in Aastha... She was the same Aastha, but something was different... Something was special... Blue was Shlok's favourite colour... He always liked it... But today the blue colour looked more beautiful on Aastha... She was looking fresh and the sight of her refreshed Shlok... He couldn't stop admiring Aastha... so simple yet so beautiful... He just smiled. Before Aastha and Aakash reached the lobby, Shlok told mansi to send Aastha to his cabin if she comes, as if he had not seen her come, and he went to his cabin.

Aastha signed on the register.
"Aastha, you are back finally...!! How are you yaar?" asked Mansi, pleased to see Aastha.
"I am fine... Pata hai, ghar pe baith ke inti bore ho gayi thi..." said Aastha with a twisted face.
"Aastha...!!" Shruti arrived. She hugged Aastha lightly... "So, all well?!" she asked.
"Yup!! It had to be...!!" said Aastha winking. All smiled.
"And you know what, you are looking awesome today...!!" said Shruti.
"Yeah, I was also gonna say that...!" said Mansi.
Aastha just smiled. "Now I am waiting for Shlok to see me..." she thought.
Aakash and Shruti left to their respective work places.
"Shlok Sir was asking about you..." told Mansi.
"What did he say?" asked Aastha curiously.
"He has told me to sent you to him when you come...!" told Mansi.
"Okay...! I will just check then..." said Aastha and went towards the cabin.

She knocked, "May I come in, Sir?"
"Yes..." said Shlok. He was glad that Aastha was alright.
Aastha went in. Shlok just looked at her. Aastha was waiting in anticipation to hear praise from Shlok. She purposely moved her hand through her hair and made noise of her bangles and tried to point out to the kajal indirectly, so that he would notice the small changes. He was about to speak something and Aastha waited curiously...
"How are you now?" he asked plainly. Aastha's curiosity drained away. How are you?! Just that? Her smile faded away.
"I am fine..." she said.
"So no more medecines now?"
"Medecines are to be taken for three more days..." she replied.
"Why did you come then?" said Shlok, "you should have taken rest...!"
"Woh main ghar pe bohot bore ho gayi thi..." she said in the most childish way. I got very bored at home...
Shlok smiled at her innocence.
"Okay... but don't take too much stress..." he said.
Aastha was still waiting for the compliment from him.
"Go now... the team must be waiting for you... They will brief you with the progress... I will join you soon..."
Aastha left the cabin. She was sad. "Everyone noticed me except Shlok Sir...! Jinke liye main tayyar hui thi unhein pata bhi nahi chala..." she thought.

Later, Aastha, Avi and two others were in Shlok's cabin. They were seriously discussing about the event, when a young girl, 23-24, opened the door of the cabin and entered in. Everyone was surprised at her sudden entry, that too without permission. She smiled at everyone present there and went straight to Shlok.
"Shlok, I have brought lunch for you...!!" she said gleefully. "I have specially made everything today... I am sure you will like it...!! I have made your favourite Aaloo-mutur!!!"
Everyone was staring at her and Shlok. Aastha was already sad, and this saddened her even more.
Shlok was very irritated. "Aditi?!! What are you doing here?" he asked.
"Aditi..? So she is the one... Shlok's childhood friend..." recalled Aastha.
"Arey... kaha na maine... I have brought lunch for you...!" said Aditi smiling.
"Err... I think we should leave now..." said Avi. And everyone began walking out of the cabin. Aastha was still looking at Aditi sitting on the table facing Shlok. Shlok looked at Aastha. He wanted to speak but Avi pulled Aastha out of the cabin.

Everyone, except Aastha, began gossipping about Aditi and Shlok. Avi noticed Aastha. "Arey meri jaanemann, why are you so sad...?!"
Aastha just nodded to say "nothing".
Avi knew something was troubling her. She was sad for some reason. He tried to make her feel better...
"Waise, many here must have already told you, but I would like to say it again... that you are looking beautiful today...!!" he said. "Anything special?" he winked.
Aastha just smiled sadly... She sighed controlling the tears not to fill her eyes. "Yeh mujhe kisi aur se sunna tha..." she said to herself. "Unhein chhod ke baaki sab ne keh... Mujhe sirf ek baar unse sunna tha... sunna tha ki main aaj achhi lag rahi hoon... Lekin sab ulta ho gaya..."
And more than that, Aditi bringing lunch for Shlok had pinched Aastha. Afterall, Aditi was Shlok's childhood friend...

Aaj ka din mere liye kuchh khaas tha...
Dil mein jagaa ek haseen ehsaas tha...
Chaaha tha kuchh, kuchh aur hi mila...
Kya kabhi kum hoga yeh faasla...?
