New York City. The city that never sleeps. People living in the city or who come here with wide eyes generally have high expectations. And the city generally doesn't disappoint. No matter what you're after, you'll find it here. Whether its about fulfilling your dreams or earning thousands of dollars or just finding a girl to hook up for a night! Just like a guy sitting across the bar is searching for the past one hour, a sexy chick with "available for tonight" tag on her with lustful eyes. Does men only think about themselves? Want they want, what thy want to do, is this only their main concern?? Only fulfilling their desires and a girl whom they can control, is this only they look for? Or something is wrong with my stars that I come across such men?
I gulped down three shots, his words started getting over my mind.
" Oh come on Manvi! Grow up! Be practical, you yourself work in a consulting firm, you know how all it is, I still can't believe you made a such a huge drama of it". He said throwing his hands up in the air. "Drama??? All this is drama for you??? So how do you think I should react Mr. Rohan Malhotra after knowing the fact that you slept with that bitch while you are engaged to ME and when we are going to get married within a week!!!!" I knew my voice was loud, but the pain which I was feeling right now is not even near to the pitch of my voice."Yes I slept with her! So what??? Manvi you have no idea how much important this project is for my company, why don't you get this baby I am doing all this for us only!" He cupped my face, trying to put his point of view across my mind. "You know how corporate life is, if you want to survive you have to play some games! You have no idea how much money we will be making when the deal will get final. I want to become one of the most successful person in the world Manvi. I want to rule this city, the whole world and for that I can go till any extent." He said in a firm voice while walking towards the side of the room all in glass from floor to ceiling, the whole city was seen from that glass, all lit up!
Tears were streaming down my face, as I guped down my fifth shot. The reality had hit me badly. I still couldn't digest the fact that how much Rohan was changed since the time we met in a party. It was my dad who got us hooked up. My dad was a person whom I never loved as much as I loved my mom, whom I lost in a car accident when I was fifteen years old. She was the only person I trusted and loved the most. After she left, me and my dad lost that little bond too which we had because of mom. My parent's marriage was the most unsuccessful marriage anyone could have come across. They used to fight day and night. But still they used to live together I don't why, maybe because of me. And I used to tolerate my parents fights because of my mom otherwise I would I have left my parents house long time back. Since she left us and till now me and dad only have formal talks. When dad introduced us, I realized that there were lots of similarities between me and Rohan, the reason how easily we got along. We both were ambitious, hard working, focused, had lots of fun together! And as time passed we fell in love with each other.
As couple of years passed, everything changed! Rohan got more attached to his work, he wanted everything and fast. Rohan was ambitious to death, for him his work was everything! I also used to love my work but still I was more thirsty for love! Go."I whispered. "What?" he replied confused, he was facing me now. "Go and become the most successful person in the world, get all the things you want! But now I don't want us to be together. I should have understood before only that our values, our worlds are different despite of some of the similarities we have. I cannot stand the fact Rohan that the person with whom I will be sharing my whole life, has shared his bed with another woman." I said, keeping the engagement ring on the table and moved out of his apartment.
" Ma'am, I'm sorry but we have to close the bar for the day." Waiter's voice brought me back. "Yeah, I was just leaving." I made the payment at the counter and started walking towards the door. With so much of alcohol in my system, it was difficult to even take two steps and my heels were not helping either. I was about to fall down when a pair of strong arms held me and kept me into place. When I looked up to see who the person was, I found myself locked up in those gorgeous pair of brown eyes! I was so much engrossed in him that I didn't realized when my phone slipped out of my hands and fell onto the floor, bringing me back on earth. I bent down and picked up the phone, and to add on my misery the screen of my brand new phone had broken. My phone also doesn't love me! Pool of tears started to form in my eyes. "Hey its fine, its just broken, it can get repaired!" The handsome guy tried to console me! "Not all things in life can be repaired." Saying this I started walking towards the door and next thing I knew was I was lying on the floor unconscious.
