Part 9
Meanwhile, when Dipali had walked out of the set crying to herself, Madhu who was resting on her resting chair spread out under the umbrella, noticed her hurrying out of the set and wiping off her tears.
"Dipali!! " she called out.
Dipali closed her eyes dreaded. At this time she just wanted to hide herself somewhere and just vanish. And Madhubala was the last person she wanted to be with. She could not imagine how embarrasing her situation would be in front of an actress like her, that she was not able to give her first scene even in 3 hours.
"So I hope you are good at your work too" Madhu's words rang in her ears.
However much she would have wanted to run but she cant ignore Madhubala calling her. She turned to face her and forced a smile.
" What happened... Come here " Madhu said with narrowed eyes scrutinizing her face.
"Nothing mam, Just..." Dipali says as she walked to her trying to avoid the question.
" Your face looks strained... what happened?" Madhu says getting genuinely worried.
"I dont know what to say mam.. Its my scene... Its just not..." Dipali tried to find words that would tell her situation and still not be shamefull for herself
" You mean that scene which you went for in the morning?" Madhu says shocked and raising her eyebrows at her.
Dipali felt her face burn and tears threatening her even more.
"Okay... Forget that... Sit.. " Madhu says feeling sorry for her.
Dipali sat down not knowing what else to do.
"See cool yourself down.. Its nothing that big " Madhu said assuring her.
"But mam.. It had been 8 takes almost and i dont know what is going wrong with me" she says exasperated at herself trying to control herself.
" It happens.. after 2-3 takes person gets even more nervous and then it gets even more difficult to focus on the scene... " Madhu says to her.
"I dont know... what I should do.." she said helplessly.
" I have heard you have done 2-3 films before..." Madhu asked her.
"Yes but... They were not this big... They were normal films... but this is your film.. and Kapoor productions" she gets even more worried as she realised it even more hearing herself.
" See... I have been in this industry all my life... and trust me i have seen worse situations... I have seen people struggling for a scene for days... And for an artist it shouldnt matter whom you are working for... Act for yourself... and artist doesnt see that he is working for a billionare or a bankrupt... Its your art and you should do it for yourself.. and dont pressurize yourself because of me or the Kapoor Production.." Madhu says trying to comfort her.
Dipali smiled at her hopefully.
" You are selected here because you can do the character... so be confident. Nobody has done you a favour. Now brace yourself.. get your make up done and be confident. Drink some juice, Hydrate yourself... and be confident about yourself..." Madhu smiled at her.
"Thankss a loottt Mam... You are amazing..." Dipali said thankfully.
Madhu leannd back on her chair..." You can thank me later on... I know I am Good... NOW GO..." Madhu said in an arrogant tone again
Dipali smiled amazed seeing the sudden change in her. She nodded her head smiling and went away.
Madhu looked at her walking away and frowned at herself. However much she didnt want to but she couldnt stop herself from comforting Dipali. Acting was Madhu's life and she just had to get it right from all the people around her. And moreoover Dipali's tear filled eyes had made her melt and she wanted to comfort her.
RK stood behind her and smiled seeing her. The more he was close to her, the more he fell for her. The way Madhu comforted Dipali made him respect her even more. He had heard heroines having cat fight but Madhu was totally different.
" I thought you didnt like her..." He said from behind.
Madhu turned back to look at him. She felt delighted seeing him..
" I wouldnt say that... " She said as she turned back to her cellfone playing game trying not to make her happiness too obvious.
" oh really.. Then why you wanted to shoo her away in the morning... " Rishabh said as he sat in the chair in front of her.
" I wanted to be with you..." Madhu said without realizing what was coming out of her mouth. As the words hit her ears, her eyes grew wide and she sharply looked up at him in shock.
" Ahaaannn... " RK said naughtily raising one of his eyebrow at her. " So... What should I take it as... " RK says naughtily.
" You. Should. Forget. That." Madhu said firmly in a clipped tone.
" How can you say that to me..." RK says acting hurt.
" If you dont want to ruin this smile of yours.. You would forget that" Madhu says nodding her head confidently.
RK looked at her confused. " Ruin my smile?"
" Yeah.. I dont think your smile would look good with broken teeth inside..." she said nodding her head confidently.
RK laughed out loud at her. " Oh my God... " He said while still laughing.
Madhu's lips broke into a smile seeing him.
Just then they saw Dipali returning to the set.
" I think you should go now... She is back and you should complete your scene... and dont bother her... " Madhu said trying to quickly send him away so that he forgets what she said.
RK stood up and said " Dont think you can make me forget it.. " He said with a naughty smile making Madhu's heart skip a beat and went away.
This time the scene went good. And the director was finally relieved.
Dipali was happy finally getting over with the scene.
She rushed out to find Madhubala walking out of the studio. She wanted to thank her again but Madhubala went away. She turned back to find RK standing behind her.
"Searching for someone..?" RK asked her raising an eyebrow at her.
"Yeah.. I wanted to thank Mam.. she had really helped me at that time. I was totally messed up at that time" she said shaking her head as she pursed her lips.
"Ohh Madhu... Yeah she is really helping... I was also not able to get myself correct at the first scene but she had made me understand the scene really well..." RK says thoughtfully remembering his first scene with Madhu.
"You were nervous too?" Dipali says getting delighted at the thought that she was not the only one.
" Nooo... I wasnt nervous.." he exclaimeid not wanting to imply that he was nervous. Being nervous was not him. " I was just lost in Madhu..." he stopped midway realising he might reveal his feelings.
"Ooo... Is there something going on?" She said smiling at him naughtily.
" Nah... She is Madhubala the superstar.. Anybody can loose himself being with her..." RK said trying to cover himself up.
"Yeah... right.. She is that beautiful..." Dipali nodded her head in agreement.
" Madhu is really sweet.. she doesn't have that superstar ego... She helps everyone... Otherwise actress' ego clashes are not uncommon in this industry" RK said as they started to walk.
"Yeah... She is a darling... So its your first film and that too here... You must be pressurized haan?" Dipali asked him.
" I never get nervous... it was just apprehension about the new profession..." RK said confidently as hr firmly wanted to delete that part from her mind.
"Very good you talk like a star even now..." she said teasingly.
" I am a star in whatever I do... " he said smiling confidentally.
"You are quite impressive Rishabh... And I think we should be friends... After all we would have to do a lot of work together..." she said trying to hint at him.
" I thought that was something understood.. " RK said confused.
"What.. that you are impressive?" She asked raising an eyebrow.
"No.. That we would be friends... " he smiled at her.
"Well... Anyways... Hope we have a great time together..." Dipali says smiling.
" Well With me around it would be great.." RK smiled confidently while Dipali laughed at him.
"I am gonna enjoy shooting for sure..." she said as she controlled her laughter.
" Yeah..." RK said smiling widely.
"We would be having quite a lot of scenes now right?" Dipali says getting excited.
" Yeah... The story goes like that...though no offenses but this Priya's character seemed unwanted to me..." RK said smiling naughtily.
"Ohh looks like you want to do most of the scenes with Madhubala..." Dipali says teasingly.
"Who wouldn't?" RK says with a sad smile as everytime he thought his feeling was special he realised that everybody in the country would want the same.
"Yeah right... Are you free anytime soon?" Dipali asked him with sparkling eyes.
"Why? " he asked confused...
"I was thinking if we could just have a dinner togther?" Dipali asked him with hopefull eyes.
" Dinner... Really? I think Bittuji would have something for me... " RK said trying to evade the idea.
"Ohh okay... i think we could have it later on... Okay will see you later.." Dipali said and hugged RK as a siign of farewell. RK felt strange but Dipali carried on as if nothing happened.
He shrugged and walked away.
