Gautami is…
A very chilled out, warm and friendly person. I'm very down to earth. I'm very adjusting and accommodative and I don't have any hang ups- the best way to describe me is fun loving.

The only similarities to my onscreen characters are that all of them have been very passionate people with a lot of sincerity. I am like that. I'm very passionate about everything and I'm also very sincere not only to my work but even to my family and my friends.

"Being married to Ram Kapoor is like a rollercoaster ride!"
It's absolutely fantastic. It's like a rollercoaster ride. Ram is a great guy. He's not serious at all. He's not like Jai Walia whom he portrays onscreen but completely the opposite. He's a big, big prankster and full of life. He throws insects on me because he knows I have a big phobia for these crawling insects. Other times he suddenly comes out of the bathroom to scare me when I'm totally unaware! He has also suddenly throw water on my head. He's mad and he just does anything at anytime. He's completely mental!

I try to get back at him but have you seen his size! I try to and I want to get him back but it's extremely difficult. He always has a one up on me as far as pranks are concerned.

Each day is different from the other and I cannot predict what will happen tomorrow! I have done the absolute best thing in my life by marrying him. I couldn't ask for anything better than Ram.

How did you move on from your divorce?
When things were bad they were bad. Like any other person I handled it in the same way and that's it. There was nothing special about my case. It was nothing more stressful than what any other person would go through in the same situation. I went through it and now it's over. As the saying goes- all's well that ends well. Now there are no problems at all.

Among the most important things in Gautami's life is an orange water bottle
I have an orange bottle of water which I carry with me everywhere I go. If I don't have it with me I really get withdrawal symptoms. That is my life line because I drink a lot of water. I carry it everywhere- even to restaurants. Ram and lot of my friends make fun of me. They say that I put something in the water which makes me high. I cannot do without my bottle of water!

Gautami is a big TV buff
I watch quite a lot of TV. I catch a lot of Hindi serials as well as English television. I used to watch Friends and now I watch Scrubs and Prison Break.

Among Hindi serials I watch Kasam Se because Ram is working on that. I do catch a little bit of Kyunki. My mother is an ardent fan of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. When I just delivered Sia I was staying with her. I got hooked on to Kyunki because of my mom. I still watch it on and off. When I'm surfing through channels I look for new faces or interesting serials. I'm not stuck up and won't say I don't watch Indian TV. Hindi serials are very good and they have the spicy Masala to keep the viewers going!

Then I try and watch a little bit of the Discovery Channel because Ram always cribs that I only watch music and I only watch fashion and I have no knowledge about any of the things happening around the world! That's why I end up watching a little of that and the History Channel.

TV or Films?
I would love to work in both the mediums. Both require me to act right? I'm not stuck up that I should only do TV or only pursue films. If something really nice comes my way which can accommodate my timings I will take it up. So I'm open to doing everything and have not kept any boundaries.

Her reasons for getting back to work:
In this break I realized that acting is the one thing I am looking forward to doing all over again. Forget about the money or anything else. I'm only getting back to work because I love it. In these two years I tried to think about a lot of other thing like starting a business but nothing has really worked out. Nothing has made me feel excited but acting is something that still excites me.

Gautami would like to start a business but she's not letting on what that is:
I wanted to start 2-3 things but I may only start them in the future so I don't want to leak the idea right now. It's at a very grass root level. It's going to be a fun venture. The idea is so new right now that it's better not to say anything. I may not do it. It may not work out. I'm scared that somebody might steal my idea!

How do you relax?
I love to dance and that's why I joined this aerobics class which plays Hindi dance songs. That's a complete stress buster for me. That's how I relax and get all the stress out of my system. I also do a little bit of yoga and I watch TV when I want to relax.

But the most important thing, my biggest relaxation is playing with my daughter. I become a child when she is around so that is the biggest and the best relaxation for me.

Ram has a huge fan following but Gautami is surprised that people remember her for her serials:
There are times when we feel that we don't get our privacy. People come up to us in our private moments but that's the part and parcel of the game. I don't think an actor should crib about it.

I've been on a break for the last two years and the only thing that surprises me is that in spite of not doing any serials people still come up to me and recognize me from Ghar Ek Mandir. Ghar Ek Mandir is a really, really old show and I feel very proud to be a part of it because it has created such an impression that people still associate me with it. I'm shocked that they remember my face! A lot of people come and tell me that they want to see me on TV and it makes me feel much loved and very happy.
