The white swan is always shown whenever astha and shlok are shown meaning a swan can differentiate between milk and water and drinks only milk leaving the water.

The swan shows the truth separating the false as in shlok's true feelings of love and the false hate.👏

you are right about swans. they only take one partner in their life time i think and ymbolize true love.
