The white elephant and whitish horse figurines in the Agnihotri living room were shown in the background many times, not just for Niranjan, but also for Vinayak and Ajinkya, as far as my memory serves me. Probably they mean different things for different characters and different situations.

Horses:

Horses are known for their energy and over enthusiasm. There are idioms like, "If wishes were horses..."and "hold your horses", which are coined based on this trait. Niranjan got over enthusiastic regarding both Aastha and Aditi and he almost lost his favorite son's life.

28/mar/2014

The idiom, "from the horse's mouth", means that the information is authentic as the person giving it is the trusted authority.

There is another idiom, "changing horses midstream", which means trying to change plans when its too late. Isn't that what Niranjan did when he tried to push Aditi into the equation? The horse was shown in the 26/feb/'14 episode behind Niranjan, when he was mighty impressed with Aditi's virtues and worried about Aastha's unwanted influence on Anjali and Shlok.

In hindu mythology, Hayagriva, is an avatar of Lord Vishnu, who has a human body but a horse face and he is white in color. He is a symbol of knowledge and wisdom. When Varad broke the news of the accident to Niranjan(above pic), the horse figurine was in the background. Is Niranjan finally realizing the importance of his family, at least a little?

Aastha rode a white horse in the recent episode. "riding the white horse" means to use crack/cocainešŸ˜›. Shlok even called her a "crackpot"šŸ˜›. She is mad in love😊

Elephants:

Elephants are a symbol of wisdom. Lord Ganesha, is the lord of intellect and wisdom. There is an idiom, "to see an elephant", which means to become wiser. They show a ganesha portrait behind Kalindi and an elephant wall-hanging behind Avdhoot often these days.
18/feb/2014

Then there is the idiom "white elephant" which means something/someone is of little use but is very expensive to keep up. When Abhay was expressing his sorrow regarding the accident, there was the white elephant figurine behind Niranjan. It probably means that Abhay is the white elephant, which is useless but expensive.

The same elephant figurine was shown behind Ajinkya when Niranjan was praising Aditi's virtues in 26/feb/'14 episode. Does it mean Aditi is also useless but will prove costly😳?

But in Hindu mythology, white elephant called Airavata is considered to be the best of all the elephants and as stated earlier, elephants symbolize wisdom. Airavata is said to bring rains so it is associated with prosperity and good luck. Once Vinayak had this white elephant in the backdrop, don't remember the episode or context though.

There is another idiom, "elephant in the room", which means that there is an obvious problem or difficult situation that people do not want to talk about.

That's all I could relate to the show from the information I found onlinešŸ˜›

Rekha..I liked all your interpretations, they look apt. Very keen eye to detail as usual.
Yes, white elephant next to NA when Abhay came is obviously pointing to Abhay.
Most of all "crackpot", "changing horses midstream" are new to me, others I have heard.
Regarding why the white elephant next to Vinayak this is what I think; he is not expensive but kind of useless according to NA,Anjali . He does not bring good luck or his wisdom is not much useful though he likes to lecture Varad and Anjali often. According to NA he is useless as he is not helping in his business and he is an artist.

i too think vinayak is uselessšŸ˜† but i think the makers have a different opinion. he is human form of ganesha in the showšŸ˜›. according to them, he points out people's flaws and tries to drive them in the right direction (but he fails to take the right path😳).

vinayak had both elephant and horse in the background in that episode(don't remember the episode or the context though) . i'm sure its one of his usual enlightenment sessions😳.

Hi rekha.šŸ‘šŸ¼
Detailed post.Nicely explained.šŸ˜›
I think u said it all.
Abhay is a white elephant.useless but expensive.
Ajinkya also aditi ditto as u said and can prove costly.
Vinayak like bappa (elephant, wisdom but heavy on the conscience)
Horse power I think NA, fast thinking and easily changes plans at a moment.
Astha on a white horse can mean crazy in love maybe..or needs someone to save her.

Lovely post Rekha. Was looking forward to reading this.
I also did some reading online on both horses n elephants.

Aastha is shown riding a white horse. It means she will become more intuitive and instinctive of her surroundings than before. Also the horse was very strong n powerful n galloped out of control. It might mean that she needs to curb her free nature n let it not overpower her. She needs to be more careful in expressing her feelings. As far as Shlok is concerned, he is overwhelmed by Aastha's love and his earlier beliefs are going for a toss. So he is trying to rein in his feelings to maintain a semblance of control.

Aastha riding a white horse could mean that she is the saviour of the Agnihotri Khandaan aka to Kalki avatar, getting rid of evil n harbinger of good.

Shlok has a thing going on with the sun. The sun god's chariot is driven by a white horse with 7 heads. Him chasing Aastha n able to rescue her, could mean acceptance of his feelings n help change the mindset of the family.

The white elephant was shown when abhay was there, so agree with your analyis that he has outlived his usefulness n is expensive now. Aditi could be the same. She proved to be very expensive to Niranjan in terms that she almost cost him his favorite baccha's life. As a result she is no longer of any use to him now.

aastha needs to be high on love otherwise its not possible to love someone like shlok for someone in their sensesšŸ˜›.
waseem posted some shayari "Tujhe samajhney ke liye madhoshi zaruri hai !!!"šŸ˜›
