EK ANOKHI KAHAANI - Part 20

Shlok, Aastha and Kavya were enjoying the game when Aastha's phone rang.
"Aai?!!" thought Aastha looking at the name flashing. She checked the time, "Oh no!!"
She picked up the call...
"Aastha, kahan hai tu?" Where are you?
"Aai, main abhi nikal rahi hoon...!" said Aastha, getting up in hurry. I am leaving now.
Aastha cut the call. She could sense Aai's anger.
"What happened?" asked Shlok.
"Aai ka phone tha! I must leave now, it's quite late..." said Aastha.
They switched off the game. As Shlok knelt down to pick up the joysticks, Kavya kissed on his cheek saying, "Thank you Chachu!"
This was totally unexpected for Shlok. He didn't know how to react. He just walked away without any reaction. Kavya frowned.
Aastha and Kavya too came out of the room. Aastha was nervous on seeing everyone sitting there.
Niranjan and Varad congratulated Shlok and Aastha for the successful meeting with Mark.

"Main chalti hoon..." said Aastha to no one in particular. I am leaving...
"Arey Aastha, kuchh kha lo humaare saath..." offered Niranjan.
"Thank you Sir... but I have to leave now...!"
"Aastha, have something atleast...!" said Sojal.
Aastha was desperate to reach home now, especially after her mother's call. She didn't understand how to refuse. Varad sensed her helplessness.
"Sojal, let her go if she wants to, don't force her" said Varad. "But Aastha," he continued, " next time we will not let you leave like this!!"
Everyone smiled. Aastha felt relieved that she could leave at once. She just smiled.
"How are you going home Aastha?" asked Anjali.
"I have got my bike" said Aastha wearing her chappals.
"But it is quite late beta..." said Niranjan. "Shlok, go drop Aastha home!"
"No Sir, it's okay... I will go by myself, no problem Sir...!! I am used to it!" said Aastha immediately.
"Aastha, it is not safe to go home alone at this hour..." said Anjali.
"But..." Aastha tried to speak.
"Arey Aastha let Shlok come to drop you..." said Varad teasing Shlok, "waise bhi aaj tak koi ladki uski gaadi ki front seat par nahi baithi hai...!!"
"Haan!! Don't miss the chance Aastha!!" said Sojal as everyone laughed. Aastha just looked down. Shlok got irritated and left to take out his car.
As Aastha was about to leave, Kavya called out to her...
"Aastha Didi!!" said Kavya, "when will you come again to play with me?"
"Didi?!!!" exclaimed Sojal making a crooked face.
"Sojal chup raho...!!" said Varad pulling her hand.
"Arey woh apni honewaali chachi ko 'Didi' kyun keh rahi hai...?" murmered Sojal.
"Shhh!!!" said Varad.
"Kavya, why are you calling her Didi?" asked Sojal.
Everyone was confused. Why did Sojal have a problem with that?
"Woh hum party mein gaye thay na... Chhota Bheem bhi tha... Wahan mere saare friends Aastha Didi keh rahe thay..." said Kavya.
Then everyone got that Kavya called her 'Didi' because all the kids at the Orphanage called her Didi.
"Batao na ... when will you come again to play with me?" asked Kavya pulling Aastha's dupatta.
"I will surely come whenever I get time, okay?" said Aastha with a smile, ofcourse not seriously.
Kavya was very happy. Aastha left.
Shlok was waiting at the gate in his car. Aastha walked to the car. And she remembered what Varad had said, that no girl had ever sat on the front seat. So she went and opened the back door to get in.
"What are you doing?" yelled Shlok.
Aastha afraid. "Woh... Varad Sir keh rahe thay ki..."
"Chup chap saamne aake baitho!! Come and sit in the front!" He ordered. "I don't want people to think that I am your driver!!" he murmered.
Aastha giggled and sat in the front.
"Fasten your seat belt!!" instructed Shlok as he fastened his.
Aastha just looked around not knowing what to do.
"Ab kya dhoond rahi ho?" said Shlok, irritated. What are you searching now?
Aastha just looked at him innocently. "Mujhe nahi pata seat belt kaise lagaate hai..." she said in a low voice. I don't know how to put on the seat belt...
Shlok sighed.
"Actually, we haven't got a car... Main kabhi car mein baithi nahi hoon na..." explained Shlok.
"It's okay..." said Shlok as he unbuckled his belt. "I will show you..."
Shlok bent over Aastha to get hold of her seat belt. Aastha had not expected this. She stopped breathing for a moment. She just closed her eyes. He was too close. The aroma of his perfume filled her lungs. Her heart beats increased.
"What is this?!!!" he yelled. Aastha suddenly opened her eyes.
"I am showing you how to fasten the belt, and you are sitting with eyes closed!!" he shouted.
"A...a... I am s...sorry Sir!!" said Aastha, still not normal.
Shlok just shook his head saying, "Pata nahi saari ladkiyan aisi kyun hoti hain...!!" Don't know why all girls are like this...!!
And the car went off. Aastha just looked at Shlok as he was driving.
Both did not speak a word till they reached Aastha's home, except for Aastha telling him the directions.
Kalindi, who was waiting for Aastha at the door, saw Aastha getting down from the car.

Aastha got down and closed the car door. Both stared at each other, knowing not what to say. After a while, Shlok looked away. After a long silence, Aastha spoke...
"Thank you..." she said.
Shlok did not say anything in return. He just looked at her. Aastha wanted him to say something, but...
Aastha turned to go home. She walked slowly, she wanted Shlok to call her. She wanted him to say something... atleast say 'Good Night'...
After she walked a few steps, she heard him...
"Aastha...!" he called out.
She quickly turned, excited and curious to know what Shlok would say...
"Thank you!" he said.
Aastha was expecting something else. She looked at him, confused.
"Mujhe pata hai..." said Shlok, "Woh sab tum ne jaan boojhkar kiya... You did that on purpose so that I would play...!"
Aastha was surprised. How did he know that?!
"It is just because of you, that today I experienced that joy once again, pata nahi kitne saalon ke baad...! Thanks!"
And he drove away. Aastha stood there staring as the car disappered around the corner. She was happy. She still couldn't belive Shlok said all that.

Kalindi was watching everything, she could not hear their conversation though.
Aastha went trotting down the way, skipping a few stairs as she climbed up. Her happiness was clearly visible.
"Aastha!!" said Kalindi as Aastha reached the door. "What is all this? And who was he?"
"Aai, mujhe bohot bhookh lagi hai... yeh sab baad mein batati hoon na...!" said Aastha as she went in. I am very hungry. I will tell all this later...!
"Ruk Aastha!! Pehele mujhe bata kaun tha woh!! Itni der tak tu uske saath thi?!!" said Kalindi, restless. Wait Aastha! First tell me who he was! Were you with him all this time?
"Kya hua Kalindi? Kyun daant rahi ho Aastha ko?" said Avdhoot as he came to see what was going on. What happened Kalindi? Why are you scolding Aastha?
Ajju too came there.
"Shant ho jaa Aai, please calm down!" said Aastha. "Aai, woh Shlok Sir thay!"
Everyone was surprised to know this. Shlok Agnihotri had come to drop Aastha?!
"Did you tell him to come in?" asked Avdhoot.
"Oops! No...!" said Aastha biting her tounge.
"Aur teri gaadi kahan hai?" asked Kalindi. Where is your bike?
"It is parked at the Agnihotri Mansion." said Aastha.
"Lekin Aastha, why had you gone there?" Avdhoot asked.
Aastha told them about the meeting. They all congratulated her for the joint venture. Aastha also told them about the Agnihotri family and most importantly Kavya!!
"Aastha tumhein sharam nahi aati?" scolded Kalindi. "You played video game there with that girl?!! You are not a kid Aastha!! What will they all thing about you?!!"
"Aai...Aai...!! Don't worry, Shlok Sir also played with us!!" said Aastha and winked.
"What?!" said everyone, surprised.

After the dinner, Aastha went to her room. She changed and got ready to sleep. She just walked to the window to feel the cool breeze. She looked at the moon and smiled. She didn't know the reason behind the smile. She felt fresh as never before. And then she remembered Shlok help her with the seat belt. She smiled... yet again...

Aaj kyun bewajah muskuraa rahi hoon...
Na jaane yeh kaisa hai ehsaas...
Kyun lag rahi hai yeh hawaa behki behki...
Kyun mehki hui hai meri har saans...
