OS- That Night before War..
(Karna's viewpoint)
Vrushali entered terrace of the palace where karna was standing.. He had recieved the orders from the duryodhana informing that the Great Bhishma had fallen...and now Kauravas needed him to take forward the command of Kaurava's Army...From the time he recieved letter..vrushali noticed Karna had kept to himself only preparing his mind and heart for greatest battle of his life... But there was something more that she could feel..Karna had excused himself and spend most of the evening in terrace watching sun setting across horizon...This silence of Karna had worried her... She knew it will be hard... but she also knew ..he doesnt have a choice...
Vrushali : "Arya, Are you okay..? " She came near him and placed her hand on his shoulder...
He looked at her.. and then at darkness surrounding his palace..with sun already being set..
" I have waited all my life for this opportunity .. to be able to show to the world that who is supreme archer in this entire aryavata..From that time of rangbhoomi when Arjun had mocked me ..when all pandavas had ridiculed my abilities.. grudge..the hurt that I had preserved so long dreaming to finally make them pay for it in Ultimate Battle..that time has come vrushali..But.."
Vrushali had seen Karna's hardships and known his pain all along... She had always admired how her husband fought against all odds and made a place for himself in aryavata.. He was now so important for Kaurava's army that pandavas only feared him and Duryodhana had full faith on winning with Karna being on his side..But she also knew..what was the reason for this delimma..that Karna carried.. Karna had just come to terms with ultimate truth of his life and irony too...
"You fear facing your own brothers..my lord.." She quietly asked..
There was long silence... before Karna's eyes filled up and he looked at sky above...
"Why she abandoned me like this... Why could not she reveal to this world before...that I ...I am her son... Why she brought this up out now...she made me stand against my own brothers in battle ground... "
Vrushali -" Arya.." holding almost a broken man ...in her arms..
Karna-"She came for her other sons vrushali...never for me... but I wont disappoint her..My mother had first time asked me something.. I will make sure..She lives rest of her life regretting what she had asked for..."
Vrushali could not understand what he meant by this...but she could see that Karna was prepared to face the ulimate battle of his life with undeterred conviction.. as if he had already decided its fate...
He gently smiled at her... and said... I wish I could change my fate vrushali...but unfortunately...my mother had sealed it the day I was born...
and then they hugged each other...Vrushali unsure of what her husband meant..hugged him tightly as if it was last embrace they were having...
A really short OS... just depicting Karna 's delimma before the battle... will try to write longer ones ahead...😊
