EK ANOKHI KAHAANI - Part 17

Aastha woke up late next day. She was very tired due to the event. She didn't feel like going to office.

Aakash came to see why Aastha was not ready at the gate today.
"Aastha?! You are not ready yet?!! Come on! Get ready soon, else we will be late!!"
"I am very tired Aakash... Mann nahi kar raha yaar office aane ka... I am too tired to drive!!"
"Arey yaar, itni hi problem hai, toh you can come with me today" offered Aakash.
Aastha was reluctant but her parents and Ajju agreed. So Aastha decided to go with Aakash.

She got ready quickly, took her sachel and came out. Aakash was waiting for her near the gate.
"Your sachel looks full and heavy today... Itna kya liya hai aaj??? Extra tiffin?? Itni thak gayi ho kya?" teased Aakash.
"No yaar, actually Shlok Sir ke kapde hain... Shirt, trouser and coat... That's why the sachel has bulged out!!" told Aastha.
"Shlok Sir's clothes?!! Tumhaare paas?!!" Aakash was surprised. "Ahem, ahem... chakkar kya hai?!" he whispered, teasing Aastha.
"Stop it yaar Aakash!!" replied Aastha, "Ek toh mujhe tension aa raha hai...aur tumhein mazaak soojh raha hai?!! Don't know what will happen when I go to return this..." said Aastha worried.
"Are you sure you are gonna return this to Shlok?... I mean, you can give it to someone else and tell him or her to give these to Shlok..." suggested Aakash.
"That can be done, but if something happens to the clothes or they go missing, Shlok Sir will blame me!!! Because I made him change that day..." said Aastha. "I have to return these myself!"
"Hmmm... I think you are right!" agreed Aakash.
"So we first go to Shlok Sir's residence and then to office...!" said Aastha.
"What?!! Why are we going to Shlok Sir's place?!!! Office mein bhi toh de sakti ho!!" said Aakash.
"I don't want to get insulted in front of so many people at the office... So better we go to his place..." said Aastha.

Aastha and Aakash left. On the way, Aastha called Shruti not to wait for them as they will directly be coming to the office.

They reached the place - the Agnihotri Mansion!! Aakash parked his bike outside the huge gate.
"Aakash, you wait here, I will return in a few minutes...!"
"Okay..." said Aakash, "All the best!!"
"Thanks Aakash! I need that!!" said Aastha as she walked towards the gate.

Aastha was awestruck looking at the palace-like building in front of her. She stood at the gate admiring the beauty of the place, when one of the watchmen walked to her.
"Kya kaam hai Madam??" he asked. What do you want?
"Sh..Shlok Sir se milna tha..." said Aastha, her heart beating faster every moment.
"Aap ka naam kya hai?" asked the watchman.
"Aastha... Aastha Kirloskar" replied Aastha.
"Aap yahin rukiye...!" he said as he went to his cabin and called someone.
Aastha could hardly hear the what the watchman spoke. She became nervous.
After the call, the watchman came to Aastha, "Aayiye Madam!" he said leading her inside the gate.

As Aastha walked towards the building on the pathway through the garden, she became more and more nervous. She was so scared as probably never before.
"Pata nahi kya hoga..." she thought.
The watchman lead her to a room beside the house and left her there.
"Aap yahin baithiye, Shlok Saab aa jaayenge thodi der mein..." You wait here, Shlok Sir will come shortly.

Aastha sat there on the couch. She looked around the room. It seemed like study room. More of a meeting room it was.
Every moment passing by seemed so long. After about half an hour, Aastha checked her watch and was surprised to see that only five minutes had passed!!

Aastha heard some footsteps coming her way. She missed a beat. She turned to see who it was. She undeliberately stood up seeing Shlok in front.
Shlok too was surprised to see her here.
"Tum yahan kaise?" he asked gently. How come you are here?
Those gentle words too made Aastha shiver.
"S..S..Sir... woh..." Aastha didn't complete. She just opened her sachel and took out the bag containing the clothes. Without saying anything, she just kept the bag on the table.
Shok just observed. he was confused.
"What is this?"
"A...Aap ke kapde hain Sir..." said Aastha. Shlok remembered he had forgotten them in the washroom. Aastha continued, "I didn't get them cleaned..."
"Aastha!" said Shlok.
Aastha trembled. "S...sorry Sir... I..." Shlok interrupted her.
"Aastha! Relax..." said Shlok. "Mujhe pata nahi tha tum mujhse itni darti ho..." he said sadly. I didn't know you are so scared of me.
Aastha just looked down.
"I know, all this is my fault..." said Shlok, "bohot takleef di hai na maine tumhein... I have troubled you a lot... Bina kisi wajah tumhein daanta hoon... I know I am a very bad person..."
Aastha was shocked to hear Shlok say all this.
Shlok continued, "I am really sorry Aastha, I have hurt you a lot... I am sorry..."
Aastha couldn't bear more of it... "Please don't say Sorry Sir... please..."
Shlok just stared at the floor...
"Main kya karun...? Mujhe gussa bohot jaldi aa jaata hai... Jo zindagi ne mujhe dikhaya hai, usay main kabhi bhool nahi paaunga, kabhi nahi!! I will never be able to forget all that happened... I am sorry for my behaviour... But I can't help it..."
Aastha felt sorry for Shlok. "I understand Sir,"she said, "sometimes our past experiences make us believe something strongly... Main jaanti hoon Sir... there are many tensions and stresses in life, and they do affect our behaviour. Please don't appologize Sir, I can understand what you are going through..."
"No, you will never understand what I am going through... tum kabhi nahi samjhogi main kinn haalaaton se guzra hoon... koi nahi samajh sakta... No one..."
Aastha's eyes watered as she recalled what Rahul had told her.
There was silence. Aastha didn't know what to say. She just stood at her place looking at Shlok, a very different Shlok from what she had seen till today.

Shlok broke the silence, "By the way, the event was very good!" said he, still very serious.
Aastha was very very happy. She almost jumped at her place. "Thank you Sir! Thank you so much!!" she said, her face gleaming with happiness. She was waiting to hear this for so long.
Shlok smiled at her innocence. He was glad seeing her happy.
"I want the final reports as soon as possible..." he said.
"Yes Sir...!" said Aastha.

Shlok wanted to ask her something but hesitated. Aastha noticed that, but remained silent.
Finally Shlok spoke, "Toh ab tum resign toh nahi karogi na??" Now you won't resign, right?

"Toh office chalein?" asked Shlok after a moment.
Aastha checked her watch at once... "Oh no!!" she thought.
She looked at Shlok with pleading eyes.
"What happened?" asked Shlok.
"Late ho gaya...!!" she said, with a worried face.

Varad and Sojal noticed Aastha. They looked at each other and smiled. They walked to Aastha.
"You are Aastha, right?" asked Varad.
"Yes!" replied Aastha with a smile.
"Hello, I am Varad, Shlok's elder brother" Varad introduced himself and shook hands with Aastha. "And this is my wife, Sojal!"
Both smiled.
"The event was fantastic Aastha!!" said Varad.
"Thank you Sir!" replied Aastha.
Sojal gestured Varad to get to know why Aastha was here. Varad nodded at her.
"Umm, so... Shlok ko kya reports dene aayi ho?" he asked, as normally as he could.
"Nahi, actually Shlok Sir ke kapde wahan reh gaye thay..."
"Oh achha achha..." said Sojal.
Just then Shlok came there.
"Chalo, tumhein office ke liye late ho raha hoga na..." said Sojal noticing Shlok.
"Good day...!" said Varad and both went inside.

As Shlok and Aastha came down the stairs, Aastha gathered courage to speak..."Sir, waise aap T-Shirt mein bohot achhe lag rahe thay...!!" said Aastha, smiling.
Shlok threw an angry glance at her and her smile faded away. "Akdu!!" she thought.

"Come..." said Shlok as he moved towards his car.
"Thank you Sir, but I will go on my own..." said Aastha.
"Bike ka problem hai na, leave your bike here and take it while going back home...!" suggested Shlok.
"No Sir, I haven't brought my bike today..." said Aastha.
"Then what's the problem?" he asked, confused. "Oh...! Dont worry, main tumhein khaaunga nahi...!!"
"Nahi Sir, woh baat nahi hai..."
"What's the problem then?"
"Sir, Aakash is waiting outside for me..."
"Aakash?!"
"Sir, actually I was very tired and didn't want to drive. So I came with Aakash. He stays next to me! So it is convenient for both of us."
Shlok didn't say anything.
"Sir, I should go now..." said Aastha and left.

Shlok was very jealous to see Aastha sit behind Aakash on the bike.
Varad and Sojal noticed this from a distance.
