EK ANOKHI KAHAANI - Part 16

The doorbell rang. Anjali opened the door wondering who it might be at this hour. It was 10:30 pm.
"Arey Rahul, aao!" she said smiling when she saw Rahul.
"Namaskar Aunty! Sorry, iss samay disturb kiya..." said Rahul.
"Koi baat nahi beta..." said Niranjan coming out from his study, "Waise achha hua tum aa gaye! Wahan kuchh hua kya? Shlok toh kuchh bhi bataane ko tayyar nahi hai...!"
"Haan! Aaj toh mujhe bhi room mein jaane ki permission nahi hai...!!" said Sojal, "ab tum hi jaa ke baat karo...!!"
"Lekin hua kya beta?" asked Anjali.
"Kuchh nahi Aunty, thodisi behes hui... buss!" replied Rahul.
"Behes?!!" said Sojal, "kahin usi ladki ke saath toh nahi??!!"
"Haan Vahini, Aastha ke saath thodi behes hui..." told Rahul.
"Poor girl... Pata nahi kya problem hai Shlok ko uss se..." said Sojal, feeling bad for Aastha.
"Yeh Aastha wohi ladki hai na jisne aaj ka event organize kiya tha??" asked Niranjan.
"Haan Baba, she is the one!" replied Rahul. "Very talented she is! Bohot hunhaar ladki hai!!"
"Haan beta! Woh toh pata chal hi gaya!" said Niranjan. "The event was very well organized!"
Everyone agreed.
"Aap sab log aaye, achha laga! Thank you for coming!" said Rahul.
Everyone smiled.
"Ismein 'thank you' ki kya baat hai beta, apna event tha...!" said Niranjan.
Rahul smiled.
"Err, main zara Shlok se baat kar leta hoon...!" said Rahul.
"Haan haan, jaao...!" said Sojal.

Rahul left towards Shlok's room.
Here Niranjan secretly asked Sojal, "Koi pyaar-vyaar ka chakkar hai kya?"
Sojal laughed, "Nahi Baba, yeh toh nafrat ka chakkar hai...!!"
Everyone laughed.
"Yeh Varad kahan hai?" asked Anjali.
"Varad?!!" said Sojal in a teasing tone, "Kavya ko kahaani suna rahe hain...!!"
Everyone giggled.

Rahul reached Shlok's room. He knocked the door with, "Shlok?!! Open the door..."
There was no reply. Rahul was about to knock again when the door was unlocked. Rahul went in and closed the door behind.
"Kya hai yeh sab Shlok?!!" said Rahul, "What is all this...?? Whatever you are doing is not right, do you understand that?!!!"
"Mujhe sikhaane ki zaroorat nahi hai...!! Why don't you give her a lecture?!! Why don't you tell her to stop doing all this?"
"Stop doing what, haan?!! Kya kiya hai usne Shlok? Tell me... I want to know!!" demanded Rahul.
"Kyun hai woh yahan??!! Why is she here?!! Gussa aata hai mujhe usay dekh ke... Darr lagta hai mujhe!!"
"Ha!! Darr!! Toh tumhein darr lagta hai... kis baat ka darr, haan??!! Tell me Shlok!!"
"Mujhe nahi pata yaar!!!" shouted Shlok..."mujhe nahi pata mujhe kyun darr lagta hai... nahi jaanta main aisa kyun hai!! I just don't know!!"
Rahul was taken aback. There was silence.

After a few minutes, Rahul initiated, "Dekho Shlok, mujhe nahi pata tum Aastha ke saath aisa kyun kar rahe ho... But have you ever thought what Aastha is going through right now!! Pata hai kitna ro rahi thi woh tumhaare jaane ke baad?!! Kya guzar rahi hogi uss pe...!! Bina kisi wajah har baar usay daant dete ho... You insult her for no reason... Itna achha event organize kiya ussne, and what did you do? Uski taareef karna toh door, you just slammed her again for no reason!! Why Shlok?!! Why should she suffer for whatever happened in your past?!! Woh Aastha hai Shlok, Swati nahi...!!!!"

Shlok listened silently.

"Aur kiss hadd tak gaye tum, you even locked her in a room and..."
"I didn't do it!! Why are you blaming me for that!!!"
"Dekho Shlok, ab mujhe nahi pata tumne kya kiya aur kya nahi kiya..." said Rahul. Shlok was shocked.

Rahul continued, "She was very upset Shlok, bohot ro rahi thi... Badi mushkil se usay samjhaake aa raha hoon... Bechaari sab kuchh chup chap seh rahi hai... Mujhe nahi lagta ki woh zyada din humaari company mein rahegi...!! She will soon resign, dekh lena tum!! And that will be just because of you!!"

This pinched Shlok. But he remained silent.

"Socha tha tumse kuchh baat kar loon... magar meri baaton se tum mein koi fark toh padne nahi waala..."
Shlok looked at Rahul, surprised.
"Chalta hoon main...!" said rahul and left the room.
Shlok was still trying to digest what Rahul had said.

Here, Mr. Kulkarni congratulated Aastha for organizing the event wonderfully. He praised all their efforts as he handed her the final pay cheque. Aastha felt satisfied.

It was about 11:15 pm. Aastha, the team and all the volunteers were about to leave, when she recieved a call. It was from Kalindi.
"Aai, tumhein pata hai, event bohot achha hua!! Hum abhi yahan se nikal rahe hain... Will tell you everything in detail when I reach home!!"
Aastha was very excited to go home and tell everything, ofcourse not about Shlok, to Aai, Baba and Ajju.

Aastha checked her watch.
"Bohot der ho gayi hai... Abhi Shlok Sir ko yeh kapde dene gayi toh phir gussa ho jaayenge. Kal subah hi office jaane se pehele Shlok Sir ke ghar jaati hoon... Daant toh mujhe padni hi hai, office mein sab ke saamne beizzati hone se achha hai ki ghar mein sirf chaar logon ke saamne daant pade...!!" thought Aastha and left for home.

Rahul came down the staircase and was about to inform Anjali that he was leaving, when he was suddenly pulled to his side by someone into a corner.
"Dada aap?!!" said Rahul when he realised it was Varad.
"Shhh!!" said Varad. "Shlok se baat hui?"
"Haan, baat toh hui...!" replied Shlok.
"Kuchh pata chala chakkar kya hai?"
"Nahi dada, buss kehta hai ki usay gussa aata hai, aur haan! Yeh bhi kehta hai ki usay darr lagta hai!"
"Haan, yeh baat toh uss ne bohot baar kahi hai... Lekin kiss baat ka darr?? Usne bataya kuchh?"
"Nahi Dada, maine poochha toh gussa ho gaya..."
"Toh, kya lagta hai tumhein Rahul?"
"Dada, mujhe toh lagta hai ki usay darr lagta hai ki kahin uske saath bhi waisa na ho jo Karan ke saath hua...!" said Rahul.
"Hmmm, mutlab usay darr hai ki kahin Aastha uske saath waisa na kare jo Swati ne Karan ke saath kiya..." said Varad thoughtfully.
"Oh!! Toh iska mutlab, Shlok ko shayad iss baat ka darr lagta hai ki kahin usay Aastha se..."
"Exactly Rahul!! Mujhe bhi wohi lagta hai!!"
Both were very excited.
"We need to find out the truth somehow..."
