This is ridiculous. Whichever track they decide to use for Vivian's character he is a SPITTING image of MADHUBALA'S FATHER. Does that not seem slightly incestuous? I don't know about others, but I'd never have the hots for someone who looks exactly like my dad. Sure, Madhu doesn't know who her parents are, but when she finds out? Then what? I'm a little dissappointed in the creatives. And Abhinav Shukla. I love Rishbala. I love Vivian and Drashti, more than any other jodi on indian tv ever. But how is this twist doing Rishbala justice at all? I keep watching this show even though the magic of the earlier Madhubala episodes are long gone. But still, like some darn masochist I keep coming back out of sheer loyalty. I took Vivian's exit from the show with a grain of salt and a box of Kleenex. I watched the completely unappealing 'Gunjan Utreja' essay the role of a Megastar. Watched Drashti turn into a bespectacled quasi-geek. Watched, as the entire cast was replaced with completely new faces inhabiting the beloved RK mansion. Devastated was I, but still accepting, because I felt that the show had lost it's charm and needed a fresh start. AND YOU KNOW WHAT?!! I was beginning to have hope that with the new tracks set up Madhubala 'the sequel' might in time reach the heights of success the original had. I even started to take interest in how certain tracks would play out..the true murderers of RK-Madhu revealed. Bebe and Madhu antics. Perhaps a marriage of convenience between Madhu and Abhay so that he can retain his legacy from his father. Pam hating on Madhu and targeting her and Abhay..and many many more 'maybe' scenarios. But what do I get? All of that is thrown out the window just at the drop of a hat, because Abhinav Shukla is shaking in his boots over a dip in the trps. What show doesn't have it's bad days? In fact I've been following Madhubala since day one, and before Madhu and RK became all the rage ,MEIEJ wasn't doing well on the trp charts at all. It took time and commitment and conviction in superior story-telling. You don't just throw in ridiculous twists for shock value, hoping it'll raise viewership. Sure the viewers will be back for Vivian's re-entry but what after that? What kind of magic can we expect to happen when there is so little thought put into the exit and entry of integral characters?
*BREATHE* I think that's all for now.
For the record there is a very significant part of me that is happy that we will see Vivian and Drashti together again. But I feel it's been done too hastily and in a way that is insulting to the original MEIEJ. I almost wish Drashti and Vivian could be dropped from the show so that another production house can pick them up and make them a part of something that has a strong script and recreate Drashti-Vivian's bewitching angst-wala-romance. Preferably with a producer who isn't prone to cheap thrills. I mean I get it, I understand the need for high trps. I can surely see the lack of chemistry between AK and Madhu but Abhinav Shukla should have made the right bloody decisions to begin with. You can't keep treating the audience like simpletons because you think you're latest stunt will save the show. I'd have been much happier if Vivian had never left and Madhubala 'the daughter' didn't exist, but instead they both die and then both have rebirth with no traces of consanguinity with the originals.
Ok, so now I'm really done. For my own sanity I hope they have a higher standard of writing from now on but I doubt it.
P.S If they make Vivian mentally challenged and/or handicapped, I will seriously cry.
