Why?? Why did Rudra stop Laila from speaking the truth about their equation in front of Paro?? What was the reason behind his reluctance and reticence??
As I see it, several reasons led to his rigid stance. I doubt if Rudra was ashamed of his equation with Laila, he is not and never was a hypocrite. On the contrary, here we have a man who cares a damn about anyone's judgement. He does what he does and the world be damned. Neither is he a guy who believes in societal norms and niceties. In essence, he is an honest man, and would never try to hide certain facets of his life from Paro. And in the past, he has dealt with some sensitivity with Laila. Trying to make her see sense, trying to explain his situation. Today was the first time Laila lost that privilege thanks to her actions!! So he does know how to respect women.
As he sees it, for Paro to be a part of this conversation, she has to have a special status. The day he gives her the rights in his life, will be the day he himself bares his past with brutal honesty. I expect no less from the man he is. He does not believe in subterfuges or lies. That's just not him. We have to keep in mind, that for now, Paro is not his love. She at the most is a witness he is protecting (at least that's what he likes to believe), and thus, she has no right to be privy to certain details. Paro is a professional equation for now, and so as such deserves a distance. He has and will always protect his privacy from outsiders and prying eyes.
Also he hates public display and scenes not to mention has a strong dislike for washing your dirty linen in public. And who doesn't. Some details are private and should remain such in front of outsiders.
Another factor is Paro's innocence and simplicity. He instinctively knows how pure and innocent Paro is. Never been exposed to the sins of this world, Paro is very much a child in certain aspects. And it doesn't take long for a man to realize that, especially a worldly wise man like Rudra. The cynic in him appreciates and cherishes and respects that purity. And would hate to see Paro being tainted by the sordid details of his past.
Also his protective instinct again plays a very pivotal part. His desire to keep her away from all things nasty and harmful is so deeply trenched in his soul, that whatever their relationship status, he will always try to shield her from any kind of harm, be it physical, emotional and psychological.
Neither can we deny that Laila is nothing else but trouble now. And Rudra will move heaven and earth to keep this poison, this acid away from Paro. In his eyes, they both should be kept as far apart as possible.
Every piece of information, as tiny or as inconsequential adds to Paro's arsenal. This juicy detail about his life can be used by Paro in future. She can use this as weapons against his plans and that too must be at the back of his mind. The less information an enemy has, the better.
What cannot be ignored is also the fact that he cares what she thinks about him. She now has the power, consciously or unconsciously. A part in him, needs her to think good of him. He wants to be her hero. A man she can look up to. He knows she already hates him, despises him and that hurts him to no ends. The Jallad epithet never far from his mind and how he hates that word. He doesn't want to lose more. The fear that if she knows about this aspect of his life, she might dislike him further. He is not ashamed of his deeds, but does realize that for a girl like Paro, it would be nothing but a sin. And a part of him wants to retain and salvage whatever vestiges of respect she has for him.
Personally, I think Paro has already got an inkling about their equation. The statement by Laila that for eight years she was the only one with the right to gaze in his eyes, the only one who saw his wounds, was registered and understood by Paro. Her eyes going from Laila to Rudra, heard what was unsaid, saw what was being covered up. Excited to see how Paro reacts to this equation.
All in all, I doubt if Rudra is one of those guys who would love one woman on one hand and yet keep another in the shadows. He is innately too honest to do that. Two timing is not his forte. And neither is he a man who would shy away from the consequences or responsibilities of his actions. Embarrassment or regret or being ashamed of his actions and trying to cover them up is not his style either. Just want to see how this triangle proceeds...how Rudra and Paro tackle this complication.
