Kushi lay awake in her middle birth. She was feeling really irritated as she had forgotten her diary in a hurry to leave the house. With a sigh she turned and looked down below her to check if her mother was asleep. She found that her mother's eyes were shut and so she hoped she was asleep though she doubted it. She then glared at the sleeping form of the man who she seemed to dislike instantly but not that much now. He was also sleeping in the middle birth on the other side.

Turning away she thought of how her mother had immediately be friended this man.

Few hours ago

Kushi was not really liking the presence of this guy here. She wanted to talk to her mother but now seeing him here she couldn't. Just then Geet entered and sat don't on the seat looking really tired.

Mumma do you want something to eat? Kushi asked as she helped Geet settle down.

No beta I don't feel like eating. Geet said but Kushi, you have not eaten anything also. Why don't you eat what your Nani has packed? Geet asked remembering that her mother had packed them both dinner.

No mumma. Khayenge tho sath me nahi tho I don't want to eat Kushi said pouting.

Geet smiled at this. accha challo lets eat she said bending down to retrieve the bag that had their dinner.

Both got comfortable and was abt to open the packets containing food when Geet looked at the man who still seemed to be engrossed in his laptop.

Beta have you had your dinner? She asked the man. But the man was busy in his work

Beta? Sunno. Geet called but still no reply

Kushi was really getting annoyed by this. Mumma that Lard Governor is busy why are you disturbing his highness now. Let's just eat she snapped. Instantly regretting it seeing her mumma's face drop.

With a sigh she pocked the man's knee to get his attention.

Sunno? Oh hello... she called him. The man looked up and glared at Kushi. Kushi too happily returned it

Beta Dekho do you want some food? Geet asked as she stretched one of the packets towards him

The man nodded his unwillingness and started working. Geet's eyes soften looking at this.

Oh busy ho tho me khila du? Geet asked as she thought the man had too much work

The man looked at her suddenly. Tears stung his eyes and his emotions for a minute was on display. He then quickly looked down and hid it but that minute was enough for Geet to see it.

Accha muh kolo Geet prompted him to open and he did. He took a spoon full of rice that Geet was giving him. He seemed to be lost somewhere and so it surprised everyone when he started coughing. Geet placed the packet nearby and gently patted his head.

Kushi pani la she ordered her and Kushi looked really annoyed by this. She glared at the coughing man but still gave him some water.

Beta teek ho? Geet asked as he settled down. Ok you eat now. But when Geet was abt to feed him again he nodded his head no and picked the packet and started eating

Bukad kahika murmured a jealous Kushi still giving glares towards the man who seemed to ignore her presence completely

Thank you he said as he finished his food.

Koi problem nahi beta. Do you want more? Geet asked with a kind smile

The man nodded no with his head again.

Arrey how will this be enough. You have to take more. If it was your mother would you say no? she said as she served him more

Meri ma nahi hai. The man replied sadness was evident in his voice. Today morning I completed her last rights. He said looking down at the food as tears ran down his eyes.

Beta... i..am.. so..rry Geet said feeling very bad for the man and guilty for hurting him.

Kisne kaha that your mom is dead? Kushi asked in her arrogant voice

The man, for the first time looked up at her in a questioning way as anger rose in him.

I'm telling the truth. You know when people die they become stars. I can bet that your mom is up there in the sky twinkling. Kushi said showing her finger up

The man looked doubtful. But still unable to stop himself he peeked out of the window to the sky. There were innumerable stars shining.

The biggest star you see is your mother. Kushi piped in.

The man smiled gently looking at a star that twinkled. And Geet smiled proudly at her daughter.

Arnav, Arnav Singh Raizada the man then introduced himself.

Geet S.. Handa.. Geet said feeling very sad again as she remembered the divorce.

Kushi Geet Handa. Kushi introduced herself feeling very proud. Geet looked shocked at Kushi as she remembered how proudly Kushi would always tell out her father's name.

The night was almost over as Geet laid down feeling a weird sense of emptiness fill her heart, Kushi closed her eyes with determination of bringing happiness in her mother's life and Arnav slept with a smile and sense of peace in his mind.

Maan still sat on Kushi's bed as his body slightly shook as he cried into his hands. He dint know why he was feeling this but the thought of his wife and child leaving him alone broke his frozen heart. He had thought he had steeled his heart after Muskan died like that, but tonight he realised it was not so. He got up from the bed and wiped his eyes and made his way towards Kushi's cupboard. He knew his daughter was very intelligent. He had made sure that he was informed of her. Though he behaved in a cold manner towards her, he never and couldn't hate her. She was his baby, his princess. How could he? Opening the cupboard he found a diary and a small picture. He ran his finger over the picture, which had a smiling Kushi hugging her mother. He wanted to look away but he couldn't. His eyes were stuck to the girl's face. She had a small smile on her face. Age had really not done that much damage to her though. She had slightly put on weight apart from that she looked as beautiful as ever. Maan froze with the last thought. How can he think like this? He was suddenly stabled with a sense of guilt. He turned around and took huge steps out of the room. He entered his room and slammed the door, taking his anger on the poor inanimate door.

Geet closed her eyes willing herself to sleep. She knew that Kushi was not yet asleep thought she lay down. She knew her daughter. She wouldn't sleep till she slept. So like her father. A small sad smile grew on her face. Did he care? She thought as pain clutched her heart. Did he know that she was waiting for him? She let her mind wonder on that front.

Past

Her mother called her, which bought Geet out of her concentration. She had her board exams now and she wanted to score the best of her capability.

Geet beta.. Muskan is on the phone yelled her mother from the hall downstairs.

Geetu... chirped her Didi's voice through the phone as soon as she attended it.

Didi.. kese ho. Geet asked smiling at the way her sister called her.

Fantastic. Guess what your Jeeja ji bought today? Muskan asked excitedly.

Oh not again.. Groaned Geet mentally. But she dint want to dampen her Didi's mood. Kya hai didi? She asked trying to act as excited as he sister.

He got me this beautiful sari and matching jewellery. She said not bothered abt the mood Geet was in.

Kyu? What is the occasion? Geet asked

He said it was out 3^rd month marriage anniversary. She said shyly

Geet sighed. But her heart was fluttering when she thought how it would be if someone did all this for her. But she stopped that thought there itself.

Geetu... yelled Muskan into the phone.

Han han..Congrats didi 3^rd month anniversary keliye. Smiled Geet. She was really happy for her didi.. She felt nice that her Jeejaji was taking good care of her sister.

Thank you yaar... she heard her aur.. suno Muskan started but stopped suddenly. Geet wondered what was wrong?

Muski.. she heard a husky voice. Though it was far off but she knew immediately who it was. Her heart thudded in her chest listening to his husky baritone voice. She dint know why her stomach did flips by this. She quickly cut the call not wanting to listen into the conversation.

But that was the last she could study that night. She dint know what or why this was happening? She clutched her hand towards her thudding heart as she ran back to her bedroom. This was happening for the past month. Her sister would call her and tell her or more to say describe in detail how her husband did things for her and Geet would dream of being pampered like this. She would always dream of a partner that would lighten her world. She dreamt of a Prince Charming just like her Jeejaji that would sweep her off her feet and take her to his world filled with love. But she never expected that the face in her dreams of her unknown Prince Charming would soon be replaced by him slowly. She was a 17 year old who has developed a massive crush on her Jeejaji thanks to her sister. She blushed with this thought. But then she stopped her thoughts there. This was wrong she told herself like the millions of times before. He was her Didi's husband her Jeeja ji how can she think like this. Cursing herself she stuffed her face in the pillow trying to sleep off this guilt that was slowly growing in her innocent heart.

After 2 months

The results were out and Geet had scored good marks though she could have done much better but still she was ok with what she had got. She smiled as she saw the interview card of *** university in Delhi. She was so happy that she would be in the city where her sister was. She skipped towards her house where her parents were waiting to tell her another news...

Geetu.. I have decided if you want to study in *** university you will stay with Muskan. Her father said with a note of finality.

But papa how ... but she was stopped by her mom.

Dekho beta. I don't want you to stay in hostel please think abt this. Her mother pleaded.

Moreover Savithri Devi ji has said you should stay in their house. Her father said with a small smile on his face

Geet could see how her parents felt abt the Kurranas. She couldn't say no and deflate their mood. Nodding her head in acceptance she entered her room with a thudding heart.

Maan ji. She whispered as she sat on the bed. She knew if she stayed in the Kurrana haweli she would see him every day. She suddenly felt fear rising in her heart. How will she manage it? She had prayed her Babaji to remove these feelings that she had for him. But it seems her Babaji is sending her to the epicentre of her feelings.

Just then her mother called telling her that Muskan is calling. She dashed out to get the call

Oye.. geetu.. congrads yaar.. screamed Muskan into the phone.

Thank you Didi..

Aur sun you are coming and staying here only... samji? Muskan said sternly.

But Didi.. Geet tried to argue

No but-wat and all... tu nahi janthi how excited I am that you'll come and stay here for 3 years mere sath.. Chirped an excited Muskan unaware of the turmoil going on in Geet's mind.

Ok chal your Jeeja ji has come will talk later saying Mukan cut the call. Geet wanted to cry. No one understood her dilemma. She dint want to go and face Maan every day. She dint know how she would handle seeing the man who haunted her dreams every night and day...
