Jehangir had only 18 ooops so less women in his life...good guy...but than too got cheated and he never knew it 😲
till the child was 40😆 i meant his wife/secondary wife became pregant with child when he was in his 40s
Out of 18 only 2-3 wives were as per his wish like sahib jamal, nur jahan, man singh's daughter. This man singh's daughter he married so that man singh remain loyal to him and not help his son khusrau in succession war not out of any love. I doubt he considered her as wife only insurance that man singh does not go against him. All other 15 were arranged marriages that his father-mother fixed for him.
Heya i wanna know why did Jahangirs wife committed suicide...????? was he so bad
Manwati Bai committed suicide by taking excessive opium who knows why? Poor lady was struck between husband and son one side jehangir want to be emperor another side khusrau want to be emperor and in between all relatives/ministers doing politics between family members and instigating them. Who knows why she committed suicide may be both father and son were making her their punching bag. It happens when father-son fight in a house mother/sister gets struck in between even in 21st century. Neither she can choose husband and let go only son neither she can let go husband and support son. Best is she must say you fight and decide i am going to maykaa but that was 16th century maayka would not accept her(like they not accept jodha back) and husband/son busy fighting to care for wife/mom. So where poor woman go in so much tension? I pity her, may be she was innocent not strong and gave up her life😕😡 poor lady
I bame both jehangir and khusrau for this and Akbar too. In all royal family first son become king why not keep such rule and why fighting between sons, father, nephew, brother etc to become emperor. Eldest should be king simple rule in all generations. So no hungama no conspiracy, no groupism, no split in family. Eldest son become emperor and other sons help him. Eldest grandson become crown prince simple. Mughal empire destroyed itself because it did not have this simple succession rule eldest son become king period. All sons, grandsons killing each other just to become king why?????????? I mean history still remember other princes its not like we forget others and only remember emperors. Yes there are extra perks for being emperor but still not worth it killing your father, brother, sister, nephews, neices, babhi's will you live in peace for a minute after that with so much blood in your hands of your own family's no ways. No wonder Aurangzeb started suspecting his children too of trying to upser his throne and jailed them, after killing so many family members i doubt he ever slept peacefully. 😡
Akbar was at fault here he must have announced that henceforth all elder sons will be kings and crown prince whoever goes agianst crown prince goes against king and shall be punished. Then mughal empire would have lasted even today and british could never have occupied india we would be independent always. And india would not have been split into so many countires too. It would have been as powerful as USSR/USA etc Because of their wrong succession rules their family destroyed and india came under british rule.

Agree with your point, and in fact this happened in Humayun's case as well, and Akbar himself was the first-born son.

However, all of Akbar's sons, Salim, Murad, and Daniyal, were addicted to wine and opium. Which is why he had to look at his grand-sons for a suitable heir.

And Jahangir, post his marriage to Nur Jahan proved that his father might have been right. 😡

Jehangir ka bhi watt lag gayi thi😉 haan waat lag gayi thi usko bata nahi tha aur kwaja sera ne bataya uskooo Imagine he must have been happy a child at old age(he was 40+ years above) and shock when he found its not his baby.
I doubt akbar ki kabhi waat lagi thi jaise serial mein dikhaya he was very clever to be fooled like jehangirrr. No wife/cocubbine shall have spine to fool akbar the great.
I doubt akbar considered all 300 as wives and 1000 cocubinnes as partners. He will have few favourites wifes and cocubbines whom he liked and visit only that many often. Others remain spinsters for life although married usually.
There is one more story i read after Jehangir became emperor he told his finance minister to increase the yearly salary to all his mothers. After 3 months he was reviewing finance and almost a crore spent on his mothers(Akbar's wives). Jehangir got shock how come i have only around 50-100 mothers no he asked? So it must be some lakhs not this much in crore.
So the minister told him Sir your father has 300 wives and 5000 cocubbines their allowances raised as you told sooo it goes into crores. Jehangir was shocked he have so many mothers and then he made distinction senior mothers etc grade system and only senior mothers got lakhs of rupees as allowance per year. 😆😆 warna Mughal sultanat ka ek-do saal mein hi diwala nikal jatha 😃😆

However, all of Akbar's sons, Salim, Murad, and Daniyal, were addicted to wine and opium. Which is why he had to look at his grand-sons for a suitable heir.
My major question is why? Why were they addicted to all bad habits and not in control of family especially parents. Sometimes too much love, too much money, too much freedom destroys a child character and they take everything for graunteed. Sometimes too much strictness too much constraints and too many expectations destroys a child. And a child learns from what his parents and others around him do not from what they are told to do. In case of Akbar both were true.
His sons were very rich could get anything they want in life. But what about other things a human cannot live on gold, diamond, material things. Did their parents give them enough attention? Did their parents spend time with them inculcating correct values and morals? Were their parents correct role models? They were sent to battle fields at a tender age what imapct that had on kids? No parents no siblings for company on cruel battles with dreaded warriors far away from home??? And expectation of being Akbar the great children???? It must have been cruel on them. How many years they could carry on taking all these pressures? And add to that companions, friends, relatives, enemies all trying to make them against each other from a tender age. So they gave up to alchohol and opium to forget the pressure and lonliness and fear of expectations etc. Its easy to be a commoners children but very tough to be an celebrity/kings child because constantly you are judged. Atleast Salim, daniyal and Murad did not kill each other or their kids before/after coming on throne. Atleast they had that much values to value their brothers, nephews, babhi's etc life and not take it for becoming emperors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Akbar's grandchildren were small when he died who knows how they would turn out as they become big??? Did not Shah jahan kill his brothers, nephews, daniyal and murads sons and grandsons etc all male relatives to become king? Did not khusrau attempt on Jehangir's life 4-5 times? Only parvez never did anything. So how Akbar feel his grandsons are better than sons. Only Parvez deserves to be king then by those standards?? But if he is so soft and good its gauranteed he shall be killed by someone to upsur throne. A king cannot be like saint all goody goody he has to kill to defend his citizens and his family, he has to kill to give justice to citizens, he has to kill to instill fear of law. Good humans if they become king will be killed instantly by others or they cannot defend country successfully. You have to be a bit strict and cruel to safegaurd your country its citizens from enemies.
A child is small and dependent so it usually does not show its true character in front of world. Its only once you are 20-25 years and start gaining independence that every human's true nature comes to fore like in case of Salim, Shah Jahan, Aurangzeb etc even Akbar's. So Akbar may think his grandsons are great humans but they are small children you cannot correctly analyze they will remain same way when they become 20-25.
And Jahangir, post his marriage to Nur Jahan proved that his father might have been right.
Jehangir was too gullible and innocent and not worldly wise(like mother). He had not much tricks/politics to handle empire so he required Nur Jahan and Shah jahan to run empire as they both were quite street smart and worldly wise perfect to handle politics. But Nur jahan started acting as if she only is emperor and Shah jahan was scared he may lose the future emperor post. Again jehangir case became like his wife mabawati one side wife one side son. But he decided and went with wife though not always. Like nur jahan told to put khurram in jail for rebelling he refused, he kept quiet when khusrau was killed by khurram in 1622 thinking jehangir would die and refused to come to court to answer khusrau's death enquiry. Still jehangir kept quiet. He was confused as he loved khurram although he had done too many things against his father and brother but at same time indulged in wife although he may know she was wrong as he had no one else suitable to help him run kingdom whom he could trust. Catch 22 situation one side sea one side devil case. Add to that too many health problems like asthama, heart problem, liver problem(because of drinking) what should a person do? Both wife and son are evil where he can go? If he was young and healthy he could have let go both and set right buttt he was aged and unwell could not. Even jodha, manbawati, sahib jamal all his clever wives and mothers all had died. So he basically had no option than to go with flow.
His father had also given power to his three mothers they did not misuse it. If he gave power and wife misuse what can he do? I think he should have reigned in both Nur Jahan and Shah Jahan not aloweed them so much over freedom as family members. But his health and lonliness and innocence and love for them did not permit him to do that.
I am raeding behavioural psychology and it goes and analyze why huamn behave like they do. Nothing is black and white its all circumstancial. All humans are not hero or villan it depends on circumstances. Same for Akbar and Jehangir and Shah jahan circumstances.
So now i can see Akbar, Jehangir etc all humans in different viewpoint not as black and white or grey only.

Hmmm, I wonder if they should have stuck to Timur's way of dividing the empire among sons. This would have lead to no murders between brothers, but might have have also lead to chaos in general.

Akbar could not do that he had only one son Salim, he cannot divide kingdom in three and give to Murad and Daniyals children they are small. Same case for Salim's kids they are still small 17, 14 and 10 years how they will handle such huge empire?????? OK he can divide into Salim and Khusrau two parts but Khusrau is grandson so he had almost 20 grandsons from three sons so what he will divide into 20 empires?????. And many of them are small below 15 years of age how they shall handle all politics, wars, rebellion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Under that circumstance he gave empire to Salim only which i think was correct. Atleast he took care of his brothers children and his chldren too(except khusrau he should not have blinded that poor guy he was small baccha samjh ke maaf kardetha toh accha hota, kuch saal mein usko akal aajathi shayad). The major problem for Salim was not khusrau but his helpers like man singh, aziz koka, rahim all powerful people
supporting khusrau and helping him in his rebellion again and again. That must have scared salim and hence to disuade further rebellion he decided to follow humayun and blind khusrau.
Now if we go to jehangir's case. He had 6 sons. Out of these 6 only two majorly wanted to be emperors one khusrau one khurram. But Khurram had already killed khusrau. So jehangir may have thought like him khurram will take care of his brother's children and not kill his other sons and their kids and his brother's kids and their children. As a father you are blind to your children's faults usually. Jehangir was blind to that or he thought may be Khurram and Shahriyar will sort out their differences. So may be he left it at that or may be he never thought he shall die so early in life at 57 and another few years Khurram will become a good boy(he was jehangir's fav son anyways) and Nur Jahan will let go off her ego.

Ya, that's there. But majorly the reason the kings were insecure of their young sons and brothers was that, both Babur, and Akbar their greatest acestors were crowned king by the time they were 12-13.

In those days avg life span was 35-40 years old so may be they felt they will die before becoming king.
