Hey all cricket crazys!!!

After today's match, it's final that on Saturday we will see Sri Lanka vs. Australia.

What's interesting is that in 1996, it was the same finals and SL won.

But the last 2 WCs have been won by Aus.

So what will happen this time??

Who will take the most wanted trophy away??

Im sorry, as much as i want it to happen, I can't c SL winning the final.

Aus are just too strong. They haven't lost a game yet, and don't look like losing one. THey seem so balanced in every department.

However, if Murali, Vass and Malinga can bowl really really well, then SL have a chance. SL need to bat first, make a good score, and allow those 3 bowlers to weave their magic.

Lets see

Lot depends on the toss. Batting first has generally helped. If Srilanka can make 275+ runs batting first, they have bowling line up who can get them the trophy..

i think the chance is 40-60
with lanka having 40% chance to win
and aussie having 60% chance to win

lanka has to keep jayasuriya and jayawardene in for a good time in batting
and also tharanga, silva, and sangakkara

and lanka can make aussie ball out
this is my basic prediction:
murali will take 3 wkts
vaas will take 2 wkts
malinga will take 2 wkts
arnold will take 2 wkts
bandara or maharoof will take 1 wkt
and it could be done with in about 45 overs

these assuies r jus too strong...i seriouley want sri lanka to win..nd tru say if dey bat first nd don't loose early wickets..nd jus do lyk 250+ runs...den when bowlin dey really need to attack hayden, clarke, ponting nd symonds nd not to let them do theri half centuries or centuries...so murali, vaas nd malinga realllllllyyyyyy need to spiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnn

I would dearly love to see Sri Lanka beating Australia.
Ricky Ponting is so damned arrogant and also all the other players, I have been supporting any team that can beat them. But Alas!! they are a cricket machine and even a good team like Sri Lanka has to really play 200% to beat them.
I cannot believe how they humiliated the Kiwis and the South Africans. At least, when they played Sri Lanka recently, even though Malinga, Vaas and Murali were not playing, Sri Lanka was not so humiliated, watching the match with south Africa was like watching schoolboy cricket.
If Jayasuriya, Tharanga and Sangakara can keep their wickets and make some runs, then they have a chance. The captain, Jayawardena has to come out and steady the team.
I believe if Ponting wins the toss, he will send in Sri Lanka to bat and then chase the runs.
Anyhow, even if Sri Lanka loses, they can still be proud that they brought back their standards to this high level to be once again playing in the finals, because after they won the world cup in 1996, their standards dropped and their coach has done a fantastic job. anyhow, cricket is a funny game, it can turn either way. Also, lately, I have seen some really bad umpiring, where players have been deemed out when they were not out, eg. the NZ captain (Fleming)against Australia, also in the NZ match when Styris was out, and the umpire said not out, even the 2 commentators said it was a bad decision, that the guy was out, he went on to make 112 runs, nearly half the NZ total against SL. Anyhow, I think, because of this bad decision, he was not given the man of the match, but it was given to Chaminda Vaas.also Sangakara, Silva and Dilshan. the umpires fall asleep and when the bowlers and the fieldsmen bellow from their stomachs for the wicket, the guy then becomes intimidated and give the batsman out. This changes the course of a game substantially.
I am rooting for SL.

As much as I want SL to win, I still think the Aussies will take the cup. Vaas, Malinga and Murali are all good. I do not doubt their sincerity but we must not forget that McGrath, old as he might be, remains to be Aussies best. It will take brains to beat the aussies. SL has the talent but compassion? That's another story. Apart from the trio of fantastic bowlers, Jaysuriya, Tharanga, Sangakara and Jaywardene, and a few others who occasionaly are passionate, there's no passion towards winning! They seem as if they are there to prove their talent and play a good game rather than winning. I admit that's fine but when you are against the aussies, winning and the compassion matters.
