I would dearly love to see Sri Lanka beating Australia.
Ricky Ponting is so damned arrogant and also all the other players, I have been supporting any team that can beat them. But Alas!! they are a cricket machine and even a good team like Sri Lanka has to really play 200% to beat them.
I cannot believe how they humiliated the Kiwis and the South Africans. At least, when they played Sri Lanka recently, even though Malinga, Vaas and Murali were not playing, Sri Lanka was not so humiliated, watching the match with south Africa was like watching schoolboy cricket.
If Jayasuriya, Tharanga and Sangakara can keep their wickets and make some runs, then they have a chance. The captain, Jayawardena has to come out and steady the team.
I believe if Ponting wins the toss, he will send in Sri Lanka to bat and then chase the runs.
Anyhow, even if Sri Lanka loses, they can still be proud that they brought back their standards to this high level to be once again playing in the finals, because after they won the world cup in 1996, their standards dropped and their coach has done a fantastic job. anyhow, cricket is a funny game, it can turn either way. Also, lately, I have seen some really bad umpiring, where players have been deemed out when they were not out, eg. the NZ captain (Fleming)against Australia, also in the NZ match when Styris was out, and the umpire said not out, even the 2 commentators said it was a bad decision, that the guy was out, he went on to make 112 runs, nearly half the NZ total against SL. Anyhow, I think, because of this bad decision, he was not given the man of the match, but it was given to Chaminda Vaas.also Sangakara, Silva and Dilshan. the umpires fall asleep and when the bowlers and the fieldsmen bellow from their stomachs for the wicket, the guy then becomes intimidated and give the batsman out. This changes the course of a game substantially.
I am rooting for SL.
