Renuka Shahane is happy that rumours about her comeback show Jeete Hain Jiske Liye going off air didn't come true. Instead the show is all set for a 20-year generation leap next week. "I would have been very disappointed had the show been taken off air due to poor TRPs. I love the show and the character I am playing," says the ever smiling Renuka, a mother of two kids in real life. Now she will play mother to two grown up kids in the serial after the show takes a 20-year leap.

Adapted from a Spanish soap, Jeete Hain Jiske Liye was supposed to go for a generation leap after 20 episodes. In fact, the original Spanish soap starts with the generation leap where the protagonist is shown returning from jail after 20 years. "But we decided to go for the 20-year leap after 45 episodes because it was felt that in the Indian context the narrative could be bit lenient so that the betrayal angle is established properly before Anjali returned from jail," explains Renuka who has no problem playing a 45-year-old woman post-generation leap.

The character will undergo a complete change now. Her innocence, naivety and trusting nature will disappear. "Nothing makes a difference to her. She is bitter about what she went through in life and her only weakness is her children who have been kept in the dark about their mother's existence," she elaborates. "But Anjali will return to her marital home in disguise and become step-mother to her children by marrying Aman." However, the sad news is the show's poor ratings. "TRPs are very bad. But then the channel's (Sony) overall TRP is also not very encouraging. We all are trying to make Jeete Hain work. A lot of money has been invested in the show and I hope it does well because a good story is the need of the hour. I think the show needs to pick up momentum and the generation leap will provide the much needed spike," she said.
