One world- One Solar System - One mission

We have had several debates as to how important space missions are and whether the funding is justified or not.
In this debate, I would like to ask if it makes better sense for space programs to UNITE globally and make contributions to what is the glorified HUMAN BENEFITS from studying if planets had water / life / about Solar episodes.
The contribution will ofcourse depend on the economic growth & budget of the individual country instead of those competing and doubly wasting the resources.
From the "utopic? / realistic?" angle of Space science benefitting of human race by asking questions regarding the outer space and beyond, I wonder if we can actually make an effort to improve human life by unifying Space science budgets as one earth and channelizing that money for another useful purpose.

Space technology involved in weather and weapon forecast 😉, can ofcourse be handled as individual countries! 😆😆😆

1. But instead of china, india, japan competing for human lunar mission ( this is just an eample, it could be any other countries/ missions) , I wonder- Could we all club together the beyond universe water and life searches?

2. Will it reduce space tech expenses withough affecting its quality?

Planetary Society Urges Congress to "Restore NASA's Vision"

Pasadena, CA, —"NASA's budget should be increased as was originally envisioned in order to restore its scientific underpinnings and to prepare for human exploration of the solar system," Louis Friedman, Executive Director of the Planetary Society, today testified to the U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies.

The Society supports the Administration's Vision for Space Exploration, but noted that it has now become distorted, with valuable science and exploration missions being cannibalized to pay for it. Friedman noted that the Vision's first goal calls for "a sustained and affordable human and robotic program to explore the solar system and beyond." However, the robotic program has been severely cut and underfunded, and the human program scarcely mentions exploration beyond the moon.

Another goal is to "Undertake lunar exploration activities to enable sustained human and robotic exploration of Mars and more distant destinations in the solar system." Instead, the current budget nearly eliminates Mars robotic exploration in the next decade, and lunar exploration activities have been subsumed by a costly plan to construct a permanent lunar base.

NASA is also abandoning the Vision's goals to search for evidence of life itself on Mars and elsewhere in the solar system, as well as to conduct telescope searches for Earth-like planets. Mars exploration has been cut, the mission to Jupiter's moon Europa and the Terrestrial Planet Finder mission have been eliminated, and the search for extraterrestrial life has been cut in half.

"These contradictions between the conduct of the NASA program and the originally stated Vision for Space Exploration explain why The Planetary Society supports the Vision but opposes its current implementation plan," says the Society's statement.

Not only will cuts in funding for research and technology gut NASA's current science and exploration programs, but they will undermine the agency's ability to develop future missions by driving away young scientists and engineers from the field, thus, mortgaging the future of NASA science and exploration.

The Planetary Society also advises that the US look to more international cooperation with nations such as Japan, China, India and Russia that are all planning lunar missions. In fact, the Society has called for an International Lunar Decade, in which the spacefaring nations of the world can cooperate to advance their exploration objectives, and in which the developing world can share in the benefits of space science and exploration.

The Society statement also strongly supports the importance of "understanding the Earth," and calls upon Congress to support both planetary science, which contributes to that understanding, and budget increases to permit additional observations of Earth from space.

The concluding paragraph of The Planetary Society's testimony reads:

"This past year, NASA dropped 'understanding the Earth' from its mission statement. The Planetary Society picked it up, and added it to our own mission statement. But we cannot pick up the budget for the planetary and Earth science that has been cut from the NASA budget. Congress must do that. We urge Congress to help NASA achieve the goals articulated in the Vision for Space Exploration, for the benefit of our future, and our children's' future. Save Our Science."

Not sure how to put this its makes sense to hear or read this but I don't think this will be a good idea, for one simple reason that would hamper the reaserch as more time/energy would be spend to co-ordinating the common effort apart from complexities in bringing all the groups on common concenses on things to do. Feeling of competition would be lost that again will impact negatively on intiatives and moral.

Noops - see above.

I see why you 'd say that. Mainly because "one world" is as UTOPIC as can be 😆.. But if we make educated and sincere efforts, it won't be so hard to achieve. Co-ordinating time and budget and ideas is no big deal in this hi tech world where outsourcing has got people to co-ordinate globally on several issues on a minute by minute basis.

Feeling of competetion will be lost, very true- but can we nations not grow up just a bit on these very PARTICULAR space issues related to water on mars and life too 😉 (j/k).. ? .. is that too ideal to ask for too? So sending man to moon before china- does it really make us / japan proud? We could all save up that money for making a block buster drug in each country (qt's one track mind back in drug-research, sorry! 😆)

(i am trying to just get a view point here, nothing personal against anyone)

I liked your point about "competetion lost" Raj and thanks for the post 😃

would love to see that, but the reality is

China-India --> no go

China - Japan--> no go

China-US--> no go

China-Russia--> no go

😆😆 @ walmart wave..

I see the reality check on countries ofcourse agreed 👍🏼, but what i am saying is make a federation and employ people from all these countries.

I am not asking for these individual national space institutes to unite,
but just make a space program for unites nations of the world- that will have exclusive missions looking for green and blue.. missions that stand potential risk of not getting the funding they demand.. This way, china can invest X%, india can bring Y%, .. yada yada and if the United mission ever finds water and alien, they all i drink a bit, say hi hello and share the glory 😆😆

i dont think ke any united efforts will be fruitful,if joint group is formed than the most powerful nation will try to dictate others in this matter too n as Anshu sir rightly said ,the competition wud be lost..............(we have example of united nations in front of us)........so its better to work alone in space field........
