I'm glad that you pointed out dat Draupadi was not the one to prevent the other wives from staying at Indraprastha. Bcoz, there are many people, who are under the impression on dat Draupadi did INJUSTICE to other women by not letting them stay at Indraprastha. I think dat the condition she made, was probably that, while she's with a certain husband for one year, wives of that husband cannot be around for dat particular year. Since, she couldn't be with anyone she wanted to at any time, she probably wanted to enjoy exclusivity, at the limited time she got with one husband. But again, dat is my interpretation.
I'm by no means a fan of Draupadi, but I wonder where did the canard come from that the other Pandava wives weren't allowed in Indraprastha or Hastinapur, particularly b'cos of her?
In some cases, it's easily busted. In a previous Papashon thread about Draupadi, citations were easily provided about how, when the Pandavas went into exile, Dhrishtadyumna came to see them, having collected Draupadi's sons, and similarly, Dhrishtaketu came to see them as well, having collected Nakul's wife. Similarly, in Ashramavatika parva, it's clearly mentioned that all the Pandava wives waited on Gandhari like servants 😡, and they are listed - aside from Kunti & Draupadi, there's Uloopi, Chitrangada, Subhadra, Karenamati and Jarasandha's daughter who was Sahadev's wife.
Aside from that, it is specifically mentioned in Adi Parva that Bhima approached the ruler of Kashi, impressed him w/ his wrestling skills and in return for that entertainment, sought Valandhara's hand. Why would he leave her in Kashi after marrying her, when he'd have to return to Indraprastha? Obviously, he'd have taken her w/ him. He'd have wanted a wife who could serve him when Draupadi wasn't available for him, and he couldn't take Hidimba for reasons described further below.
I do think that Devika's omission in the Ashramavatika parva was inadvertent. As for the omission of Valandhara, there is a very good reason. Bhima hated this arrangement of the Pandava wives serving Gandhari, since he held Dhritarashtra & Gandhari responsible for all the sufferings that the Pandavas had gone thru, including the fact that all their sons were dead. So I think it very likely that he explicitly forbade Valandhara from serving Gandhari, and only serve Kunti. If the husband gave such an order, there was no way it could be overridden - not by Kunti, not by Draupadi, not even by Yudisthir.
The only Pandava wife who never went to either Indraprastha or Hastinapur was Hidimba, since she was a rakshashi, and that too, a former cannibal. So allowing her in was out of the question. But everyone else - including Uloopi - was welcomed to Hastinapur, particularly during and after the Ashwamedha yagna.
The only thing I hold against Draupadi was Subhadra having to go to her as a milkmaid.
