Destruction of Relationships

A matter of concern in KS is that relationships have been pushed to such extremes that the normal, day to day, mundane relationships have ceased to exist. It is well known that in a soap these things will be resorted to take into account the high-level dramatics that is so characteristic of soaps and so un-real like.

For instance take the case of sisters of either Jai and Bani. Jai has a sister Jigyaasa who has entertained her relationship with her brother mainly for property and money issues. Nothing else matters. Initially when KS started, Jigs had some element of humanity in her and many incidents showed that she was concerned about her brother too. But now the elements of humanity have been removed altogether.

Jigs had always hated Bani from the first day, hated her spunk, her direct attitude and her ability to trash all Jigs attempts to malign her and her sisters. Her hatred for Bani was so ill pronounced that she failed to see that it is with Bani the happiness of her brother lay. That's why I say that the human element has been removed and she has only been concerned about herself only. And her hunger for money, for power which she could have got easily had she remembered her position in the Walia household and not squandered everything by her silly yet impactful performances.

Karuna entered the picture pretty late. But she was Jai Walia's ideal sister – the sister which Jigs could never be. Cos she understood Jai's pain and suffering and his immense love for Bani. Yes, I am writing this in spite of that hateful ONS that happened, wittingly or unwittingly. She also saw or understood Bani to a great extent as to how she wanted everybody in the WM to be happy and like a dutiful wife kept nte of everybody's aspirations, wishes and hopes and tried to fulfil them (again with positive or less than positive results). But this very Karuna turned against JnB when she found out that Tarun loved Bani though the reverse has never been true. Bani has always treated Tarun as a friend and she knew how much Laxmi loved Tarun and in fact Bani played an important part in trying to bring Tarun and Laxmi together, though again she failed (much to the happiness of her detractors). And most significantly, everybody came to know about the illness that Tarun suffered and that it was more of his obsession for Bani which landed him in trouble rather than the other way round. Really a very flimsy ground based on which they had decided to show a volte face on Karuna's part. Also revelation of the truth had actually prevented Laxmi from suffering an unforeseeable future as Tarun's wife and she had actually escaped leading a half-trodden life in fact.

Now coming to Pia – there's only so much that one call write about the Repto. She has crossed every boundary, like Jigs, that a sister should cross and has considered her own happiness only. Nothing else had mattered to her and nothing else will. She not only destroyed Bani's life, but also Jai's life (not only by taking away from him the right to live happily with his wife, but also producing a child as a continuous proof of his rape for all times to come) and the children's life to by taking away a happy family environment from them. What for all these? For JW's love or whatever. I don't think so cos if she had actually loved JW, she would have left him in peace and let him be with his own life, which he had many times chosen to be Repto-free but to no avail.

Now there's a new entrant called Aparajit Deb or AD who has come forward to help Bani take revenge on JW and Pia but Bani is more of a pawn in his hands rather than an innocent girl who really needed the help. His role hasn't developed fully yet but from what ahs been revealed to us its not much different than the usual revenge takers and eggers in Maayi's serials, though this character could have been developed in a different light. Lets hope for the better only cos his role is supposedly important. But then again he has even managed to complete the destruction process of Bani's innocence in the fire of his own hatred for JW.

Now lets see who pays the maximum price for all these happenings? Of course Jai Walia initially and later Bani (sorry to me she is Bani only not Durga or whatever) when the entire truth comes before her. But will the entire truth be ever revealed? Think no, thus taking KS to the final steps of oblivion and resulting in complete destruction of human beings and their ever-fragile relationships.

I totally agree with you! Thats why i got so annoyed when once again they used the pia card. This shows main concept was about the three sisters and their relationship later Jai and Bani too. Main point being that they destroyed that relationship to the point that its unredeamable it was pointless they could have easily brought in a another vamp but nope they had to use Banis sister to do that.Another human would think 100 x before doing something like that to another yet pia did it so easily ! which is what makes it sicker 🤢 🤢 🤢

As for the rest of the relationship they are just as bad now as well

Sangita why so you say this? Is'nt the point that truth always gets revealed and that's how ultimately good wins over evil.

As usual sangs, very well written analysis!!

All Balaji shows thrive on the destruction of relationships but i think what grates most in the case of KS is that usually people have a solid motive, or at least some real reason for their behaviour - either that or they are playing the archetypal "soutela rishta" which has forever been given, and will always get a very bad name!!!

However, in KS, you have two sisters who are so inexplicably sickeningly evil! The entire scenario starts to look ridiculous because all you see are sick and twisted people who slaughter relationships for their own happiness!!

Kekta wanted KS to be different right? Well, she got what she wanted - and not in a good way!!

Now all we can do is hope that the sanctity of certain relationships like J-B, Bani and her children, and Rano too aren't utterly destroyed as well!

With regard to your other point about the truth being revealed in the end - I doubt it!! We never saw Bani explain fully her reasons for the alimony drama, we never saw Jai explain why he said those vicious things to Bani after the ONS was revealed, we never saw Maasi or even Bani's apology for the way in which he was treated after the truth about the rape came out.... the creative team have a habit of skipping over difficult but pivotal conversations - perhaps because they don't have the intelligence to write them - and we will probably see the same again after Durga's revenge!!

ps. I also hate what they have done with karuna too - she was a lovely character, enough to restore ones faith in a sister's relationship with her siblings, but kekta ruined that too!!! And with such a flimsy weapon! All that karuna is now is perhaps the lesser of 3 evils - which is such a shame, because she had the potential to be so much more!!

I dont know about the earlier parts but yes- currently I am am a bit disappointed that in no way does AD feel for Bani .. infact he does not treat B as a human, but his trained and programmed revenge-machine.. I am waiting for this equation to alter..

Also for the entire track to work they did not need to make her evil. She has little or no role to play in the framing of Bani as she came late in the game expect do the walk to the car and not respond. For that to sacrifice such a nice character just does not make sense.

Also in the beginning all that jigz did was to preserve the wealth for her children. Now her motivations do not make sense. JW has kids, moreover Bani's kids to inherit so why is she doing all this. When the kids tur 18 Pia will have no leverage whatsoever and she will come out the looser as she will have lost all her relationship and her children and wealth. So what is she doing all this for. KS is so weak on motivation that it is laughable.

FOr the AD character if they had shown him as a strong principled man who took pity on Bani's plight and nursed her into a strong person to fight her battles that would have brought some positivity to KS. But alas we have another character who will butcher the mentor/guide relationship and the devastation will be to bani and JW and their kids

I totally agree Megs - what I would not give to have seen RR play a character akin to Sanjay Dutt in Dushman - he would have pulled that off magnificently!!

Instead his character makes me choose to call him Donkey!! 😭
