dhritrashtra himself had lust for throne n same he passed to his son also,,,he was not good father nor good king ,,it was bhishma who was doing all he was just a dummy man😡,,,,his ambitious selfish son gained all qualities of his father n became devil ,,😡,both are part of same coin dhuryodhan n blind man same end ,,,just a selfish man kindling his son desire by doing injustice 😈

@Spatel:I can totally empathise with Drit being caught between a rock and a hard place. It's bad enough to not get what you really want and even worse to have to give it up once it becomes yours ( by hook or crook!).

I believe ( by extrapolating back from his current actions) that he was' born this way'( sorry lady gaga!). His blindness was used all along to explain his bitterness, his ambition and the selfishness. Perhaps there was something lacking in his own upbringing where his elders missed an opportunity to help him come to terms with his blindness.

Anyway, blindness or not, like you I do believe that he would have always acted in his own and his son's interests .

He thought and felt like a common man would- and just about behaved like a 'king' because his hands were tied as he was just 'karyakari' and Bheeshma safeguarding the throne of Hastinapur for it's rightful inheritor.

Drit also failed as a parent to instil the right set of beliefs and values in his sons not just because he was blind in the eye but more because he turned a blind eye to all the misdemeanours of Dury and bros.

Today thT blind man proved he is total blind man plus deaf also who only hears of his son voice n can go down to dearth for them. A true selfish fAther n blind deaf foolish handicapped abnormal mAn

the character I mostly hate In mb is dhrit.I do have sympathy with him n few times understand his pain.but I find him more of a culprit than dury bc atleast it was clear from start dury hates pandavas n would do bad to them at any cost.but dhrit always hid behind the mask of goodness and blindness to run away from his responsibilities.a person afraid of taking responsibility can not be a good king.I am not comparing him with anybody but he dint have quality of a rightful king and was weak not because of his physical incapibilities but because of his weak persona.he was just a common weak person born in a royal family. oh sorry even then he could not impart good values neither could "truly" care abt his sons as a common man.he just pampered them.so he even failed as a parent
