CHAPTER 1

Manvi felt nervous as she realized that she would be entering the party alone. She saw the door open and walked into the apartment and stood still. Nothing had prepared her for what she saw when her eyes grew accustomed to the dim light. The place was nearly dark. There was a bar at one end. People were sitting all over the place and mostly they were couples who were just engrossed in each other.

A Boy came and said, "Hi there . I am karan. What are you waiting for? Step on it. Let your hair down and enjoy the party"

Manvi just nodded but stayed where she was. Her eyes hadbecome accustomed to the dim light by now and she could see that she was a misfit. She felt out of place in the party. She was the only one in a simple suit and top. She seemed grossly overdressed. the others were wearing torn jeans and skimpy tops. None of her friends had prepared her for this. And they had not turned up either

CHAPTER 2

Manvi started feeling miserable. Her parentgs had forbidden her from going to any adolescent party but she had fought with her parents to come to this party to which her friends Kiya and Riya had invited her. Where were they?

Suddenly, she saw a boy flat on his back in the corner of the room. She gave a gasp. No one was bothered about him but he seemed to be unconscious. Or was he dead? He was lying in such a fashion that Manvi started believing taht he may be dead. But then he seemed to be trembling as if in an ague. he certainly seemed to be in dire need of a doctor's attention. But no one seemed concerned about him.

She saw Karan changing the music and she ran towards him. She pointed at the boy who seemed unconscious again and shouted above the din, "Please check, Something is wrong with that boy. I think that he needs a doctor."

Karan stared at her as if she was an alien and said. "Are you real? Nothing is wrong with that boy except that he has had one too many."

"What do you mean? asked Manvi

"I mean durgs. He has overdone it and so he is flat out." Karan.

"Oh! I did not know. I am sorry," said Manvi

Listen Kid. If you are so straight you better go homw while the going is good. It wont be this straight after some time. You may get in trouble," said Karan.

"Thanks for telling me. I think I will take your advice," said Manvi.

"by the way who invited you? asked Karan.

"Kiya and Riya" said Manvi

"So you are Manvi. Kiya is my cousin. She has played a practical joke on you. Go home. This is no place for an innocent like you," said Karan
