Valentine Day is not a holiday but a special day celebrated on
Feb 14 every year
There are many legends regarding the origin of Valentine's Day.
The most popular ones are:
One legend dates back to the Roman Empire days in the third century. Valetinus was a priest during King Claudius reign..Some say he was imprisoned for his Christian beliefs.Some say that he helped many young soldiers to marry.. This was in direct conflictagainst the king's orders who wanted his army to remain strong by remaining single and free from emotional
commitments..During his imprisonment he healed the blind jailor's daughter of her blindness. They fell in love and the night before he was killed he wrote a goodbye note signed
He was executed on February 14.
Valentine's Day is celebrated in memory of him.

Young women during this festival would write their names and drop them in the box..Young men would choose a name from the box and marry them. From those early times people celebrate mid February as a special time for love
