Today, was a pleasing episode in many respects, especially given the screen space Akdha received. There were some similarities across scenes, especially the Akdha ones, so today I am going to do a take 5 of the top 5 themes from the episode:
(1) The recurring shove: It is interesting how the shove was mentioned twice in today's episode- once in the boat ride and then during the dinner. In the boat ride, Jalal highlighted how the shove was what shook his trust in her which was a good revelation. In the dinner scene, it was clear why Jalal did not want to push the shove too much as he was afraid it would build a deewar between them after he was enjoying the attention of his baaghin. What I am surprised by is both times Jodha looks awkward but doesn't say anything. I have begun to wonder if she believes this is just one of the many bad incidents between them as she referred to in the dinner. Till she finds out about the letter MU, I am not sure if the CVs will allow Jodha to understand why Jalal is so hurt. The good news is it looks like the CVs will somehow bring closure to the shove, even if they stretch the track like chewing gum. Given it is an Akdha track, for a change I am not complaining if it is stetched. 😊
(2) Traveling down memory lane both directly and indirectly: I love it when the CVs show parallel scenes to prior ones as you can see the progression of our leads with both the boat scene and the palenquin scene.
Reliving the boat scene: Like hand scenes, looks like we are always treated to a handful of boat scenes. Compare this boat scene to the one on the way to Amer; before Jodha gingerly gave one hand, here she gives two; this time she falls on him and there is no awkwardness.
For the palenquin scene, it was great to see how Jalal's expressions had evolved from only attraction to love. Now Jodha also felt his presence more and I always love flashbacks of the Amer scene. Looking at other posts, it looks like many folks liked the focused gaze on the foot and Jodha shyly hiding her feet. 😉
(3) Everyone knows these two are in love except them (ok, let me correct, Jalal is now in the know 😉): Loved how the folks during the dinner mention how Jodha must love the Shehenshah a lot- Jalal immediately looks at Jodha to see her reaction. I think he knows what that smile of Jodha's means- Hasee to phasee. Even funnier, the Mughal soldier who arrests them recognizes their love for each other. Yeh Jodha kab samjegi? 😆
(4) The journey to getting rid of the tax seems to be that of Jalal on his own: When they asked for the pilgrimage tax, I expected Jodha to give a baashan on the tax and Jalal will decide to get rid of it. However, instead, we see Jalal taking extreme efforts to understand what his people are going through both in the jail and the whipping tomorrow. Hence, it shows a transformed Jalal / Akbar trying to understand what his people need instead of Jodha guiding him, as she did in the Tasleem track. I would love if this is continued to be shown as Jalal's brain-child.
(5) Other nok jhok: Loved Jodha's concern for Jalal throughout from the scene where she says she wants to rest so Jalal to rest to the precap. Also, loved Jalal's sense of humor when he instructs his soldiers to call him sethji, shows off his Marwari accent to his gharwali (how nice that sounded), and accepted to stealing in jail (was he referring to his Jodha begum's heart?) I am coupling all these scenes together as they brought one big smile to my face in culmination. 😃
Some other thoughts:
So, what was with not showing the precap I have watched yesterday's precap so many times that I can live without seeing it today if only they had not wasted so much screen space to Cheapudhin, AK. I can even take the Javeda scene as it was great for her to test if MA is a vishkanya
Hope this journey of Jalal and Jodha lasts for a while - their Ajmer trip was too short- this better be longer. We still haven't seen the spoiler pic with Jodha's glass bangles which gives me hope.
So, what did you like in today's episode?
