Afer much speculation, it's now final that TV host Gunjan Utreja of Aamna Samna fame will play the new male lead in the show, Madhubala-Ek Ishq Ek Junoon. The 29-year-old is not just thrilled beyond limits, but is also ready to face the comparison that viewers might draw between him and show's erstwhile lead actor, Vivian Dsena aka Rishabh Kundra (RK). "I am so, so thrilled to be a part of this popular show, and I have been given an awesome character to play," says Utreja, adding, "Comparisons with Vivian are inevitable because RK was a character people recognised the show with. But I am not here to compete with him. And I am not RK's replacement. I am walking into the show as an entirely new character, Abhay Kapoor... AK, the superstar, who will be seen romancing Madhubala, RK's daughter." Several names from the TV industry including Karanvir Bohra and Shaleen Malhotra were doing the rounds to play the lead in the Colors' show that recently took an 18-year leap. "Just two weeks back, I suddenly got a call, and after some look tests I was in!" says Utreja, who claims to be "shy and introvert" in real life. So, is he nervous about wooing actor Drashti Dhami aka Madhubala on the show? "Romance toh har ladke ke khoon mein hota hai, and if the girl is Drashti, anybody will learn to romance," 😆
