Article: My Wife is extremely Messy- Nakuul M

It was a personal visit that brought actorNakuul Mehta to Ahmedabad. But a huge crowd gathered outside his friend's cafe where he was interacting with the media, especially his young fans. Currently seen as Aditya in 'Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyara Pyara', Nakuul braved the Ahmedabad traffic and posed for our shutterbug strutting in his cool blue jacket while his fans mobbed him for autographs.

As Nakuul settled down for a chat with TOI later, while constantly waving and smiling at the crowd outside, he said, "My first brush with my fans after I started doing this show was also in Gujarat. It's been such a beautiful journey. We have come to Ahmedabad to attend a wedding and it's great to be here."

Talking about his show, Nakuul says, "This was my first television outing but the reach and the love it has given me is unbelievable. Acting is just a career option for me and initially I was doing this show for purely selfish reasons, to satisfy the creative instinct in me. But the side effects of being an actor are immense! When I travel and I see the reactions, I feel a great sense of responsibility because people are getting affected by it." While Nakuul and his wife Janki had to opt out of Nach Baliye 6 due to Janki's knee injury even before they could begin, Nakuul feels that whatever happened was good. He says, "It would have been a bigger problem had the injury happened after we had started with the show. I only wanted to spend more time with her and doing NB seemed like a perfect way. We got married around the same time that I started my television stint. I feel I saw her more when we were dating then after we got married! But health comes first and there is always a next time. I don't know if I want to showcase my personal life in a reality TV show but I'd love to host a show, because that will enable me to connect to people directly."

With so many actors quitting their shows to pursue a career in films, ask him if he is also ready for a second chance in the movies and Nakuul says, "As an actor, I'm ready to explore any medium which satisfies me. I'm doing a lot of theatre because I feel that theatre is an actor's medium, TV is predominantly a writer's medium and films are a director's medium. But I feel it is a very shallow view of actors to quit television and do films. The so called small screen is much bigger than before so the size of the screen doesn't really matter. I've seen the reach of television. TV is a goldmine and anyone would be foolish to get out of it."

On a lighter note, Nakuul talks about being a huge foodie and says, "I'm a foodie first and an actor second. Food drives us on the sets as well. The more well fed I am, the better I can perform. But being an actor, it is also important to remain fit. I am a fitness enthusiast and go for a run at midnight or early mornings and indulge in a lot of outdoor activities." Talking about two years of a happily married life, he says, "We dated each other for nine years. She is extremely messy and I'm a cleanliness freak. She does all the planning because I am bad at it. Marrying her was my best decision ever. She brings a balance to my life."
