Hey guys, I've been watching the show pretty much from the beginning...isn't Veera Ranvi's half-sister?!!
I've been reading so many posts here and everyone keeps calling her his step sister, and the subtitles for the show used to say step sister too..but she'd be his step sister if they shared no parent, but they share the same father...they're half-siblings...

Is this just an Indian thing? Is there no concept of half-siblings?

Thanks,

A confused Canadian

That is one thing that has always irritate me about this show, they keep ignoring the fact Veera is blood related to Ranvi, they are half siblings but yet the CVs and even SBS is reporting that they are step siblings which is just wrong.

Ranveera have the same father..so of course they are half siblings...
But as Mandy said..they keep mentioning veera as step sister!!
Only her mother is different...he father and ranvi's father are the same!!!

I don't know if this is intentional on the CVs part or pure carelessness. If intentional it could be because RanVeera have yet to find out that their father had an affair but if not then this is very bad writing.

Okay, thanks for replying guys!😊😊
I'm not the only one that noticed it being off...but I'm not sure it's carelessness, I think it's probably something that's not recognized in India...I'm guessing all of you ladies are from North America like me because of the time...the IF ladies in India are having their sweet Ballu or Ranvi dreams lol...I really want to know what they think about this...it may just be a cultural thing that we don't get.

How do you say half sister/brother in Hindi or whatever language they speak? And even somewhere I don't remember if it was a movie or a tv show, but they also referred to a half sibling as a step sibling.

Moniloveasya-But doesn't "sautela/sauteli" mean step...as in not related by blood?

I mean there is a word for half... and bro/sis but I guess "addi-bhehen" does sound super weird too LOL
I guess you're right, there just isn't a word for half-sibling...but why call it something that it isn't..confusing...I remember Ratan said that to little Ranvi and I remember thinking why is she lying to him...lol.
