Hermione should have married Harry Potter'

LONDON: After years of squabbling, Harry Potter's best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Grainger finally became an item - but now their creator JK Rowling has admitted she made a mistake by marrying them off.
Hermione - whose quick wits get the teen wizards out of many a scrape in Rowling's hit novels - would have been better off with hero Harry, the British author said in comments published by the Sunday Times newspaper. In fact, Ron and Hermione would likely have ended up in marriage counselling, Rowling suggested.
"For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron," Rowling says in an interview with Wonderland magazine, previewed by the Sunday Times and due out next Friday.
"I know, I'm sorry, I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I'm absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. "Am I breaking people's hearts by saying this? I hope not." Rowling's interviewer in Wonderland was none other than British actress Emma Watson, who played Hermione in the blockbuster movie series based on the Potter books.
The actress agreed with Rowling, saying: "I think there are fans out there who know that too and who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy." Rowling has sold more than 450 million copies of the Harry Potter books, which were made into eight films starring Daniel Radcliffe, Watson and Rupert Grint as Ron. The franchise has made Rowling an estimated fortune of 560 million ($920 million, 683 million euros), according to the Sunday Times' Rich List 2013.

this news is heartbreaking...

my whole teenage,my whole life...and now J.K.R is having second thoughts...i didn't expect this from her...

I read her interview in a sense as saying that she paired Ron and Hermione as an emotional decision, not going by the literary tradition.

It's ok for her to have second thoughts. I will still love Romione forever

those words struck me hard.

c'mon ...so what Ron wasn't the hero,so what he was not the chosen one...so what he and Hermoine argued a lot.. this doesn't mean he would not have been able to make Hermoine happy... Hermoine was in love with Ron and being with him would have made her happy anyhow ,forget "would have",he already has made her happy ...all these years.

I always thought that Draco-Hermione were perfect together. Not Harry-Hermione or Ron-Hermione. Harry is too bland for Hermione- their relationship was bound grow boring after a while- they are way better as friends. Ron is much too different from Hermione in a bad way. His goofy nature and neurotic issues will only be fine for a few years, not for long.

Hermione needed someone to challenge her, to drive her to the edge of passion, to really touch the passionate side of her, which nobody even tried to discover. It is only with Draco, even while fighting with him that Hermione seems truly alive. And Draco needed a saviour. Someone to balance him out. Weird how he also calls her "mudblood", like Snape did to Lilly. But I have always thought that they would have made a fantastic couple.

J.K. doesnt have issues with the Ron/Hermione because he was not the chosen one or the hero. If you look back at them, they are highly incompatible. That is what she said. Their personalities dont match, they wouldnt have a very successful adult relationship.

I will admit it is the worst possible timing for this revelation after all, HP is all completed and done with for a long time now and people have come to accept and love HP the way it was, and so this news completely turned my whole HP childhood upside down and many others I'm sure.

Nevertheless, she's the author so she can think or do whatever she wants with the characters in her book and the rest is left to the reader's interpretation and imagination. Seriously stop bashing this amazing author who if it weren't for her creativity and imagination, you wouldn't even have characters to ship
