'Even if you Hate the World'
He saw it again. The pure hatred resonating in her eyes, the light once that was there long gone. They won- they finally made her in to the zombie they have always wanted her to be. But how can he let her get lost in the depths of this monster. How can he let her lose her strength, which she fought for so long to keep. There was no way he could let such a tragedy take place. Nothing is far worse in life than giving up when you're this close to the end. Or was it even an end. Sometimes he wondered that. Maybe there wasn't an end to his ugly ass tunnel. There were never ending's, just new beginning's. Eventually the choice is in our hand, if our beginning's are good or bad.
'Are you listening to me?,' her voice snapped him back to reality. He did not answer her, but continued to stare at her darkened face. Shadows were hovering all around her presence, and he felt the invisible monstrous hands choking her. She was in a lot of pain. This time the unhappiness within her was clawing every ounce of flesh. God, how does she bear such torment? He could never understand, and this is exactly why he saw her as an icon of strength. There was no way he would let her give up.
Patiently he responded to her irritated tone. 'Yes, I was listening. The answer is no.' Her eyes turned to slits at his answer. No surprise there. Making life easy for him wasn't exactly in her books. The path was always a difficult one with her, but he was willing to walk through it all just to see her happy. However this time he was not backing down. What she asked was highly impossible for him to agree with.
'Why the hell not!,' she asked, fiercely.
He shrugged in answer, but held her gaze intensely. 'Because I refuse to. I have been doing that for years, and no way in hell am I changing it just because you decided to give up. I don't care what you tell me right now, but this isn't happening. So forget it.'
Furiously she got up from the floor, up on the roof top, where they were seated watching the city as always. She was about to walk away from him, but he did not back down without a fight. Before she could take a step, his arm captured her wrist, trapping her on the spot. Her body stiffened, and he knew the temper within her was rising.
Dead quietly he heard her voice speak very slowly. 'Let. Me. Go.' Chills went down his back at her tone. He still did not back away. The grip was firm, although gentle. 'No,' he said simply, and she whipped herself around, her hair swinging wildly along with her. 'Arnav, I am telling you one last time. Let. Me. Go.'
Closer he moved, their breaths mingling with each other. Angry eyes looked back at him, yet when he looked closely he saw the little girl- the little girl that craved love, and only love. The little girl that was tired, the little girl that was scared, and didn't know what to do. 'Never, Khushi Kumari Gupta. I will never let you go. So scream all you want. Hit me if you have to, but I will never let you go. You know why-'
'Don't say it. Don't you dare say it!', tears sprung out of her eyes, as she furiously nodded her head, begging him not to say it.
'Because I love you'
Tiny fists came down his chest. Full of impact, hitting him hard. She continued to hit him, until she was tired, and she collapsed right in to his arms. 'I hate you,' he heard her mumble in to his shit. Not uttering a word, he wrapped his strong arms around her, and held her tightly. His face found refuge in her hair, the scent of vanilla diffusing in to his senses. Peace settled around the air. Shadows which were lurking around, gradually disappeared.
Few minutes later she lifted her head to look at him. Dry tears were smeared all across her fair face, breaking his heart once more. Simply she asked in her tired voice. 'Why?'
He cupped her cheeks and leaned against her forehead, whispering an answer.
'Because even if you hate the world, I still love you.'
