Rummy is Vijay Sethupathi's first film in 2014 directed by newcomer Balakrishnan which is set in 1987 at a period when education was largely under the control of government. Sivagangai in Tamil Nadu is the place of action for Rummy which is about students who come to study from various parts of the state and their friendship, romance and consequences.
According to director Balakrishnan, the foremost USP of Rummy is Imman's music which has been received very well and he is confident that his visuals will only augment the viewing experience much better.
Balakrishnan also stresses that his screenplay will be magical. Few segments of Rummy will be narrated backwards that will hook the audience to the movie strongly.
Drawing parallels between the card game Rummy and the film, Balakrishnan says that like how it is very difficult to ascertain which card is going to show up in the game, the film also will have some incredible surprises.
The performances of all the cast members are noteworthy that will go a long way in the film being enjoyed by the audience.
Balakrishnan credits his technical team of Music Director Imman, Cinematographer Premkumar of NKPK fame and dialogue writer Mona Palanisamy for a must watch' of Rummy.
Rummy, as per the director, will have all the commercial elements with a poetic treatment.
