that's the misconception.. Rakshash are not any scary kind of thing.. they were a very developed race.

I agree. but it was so much fun. I laughed so much to see those Rakshas. They are so cute and adorable. and Bheem was so dashing so I think Rakshas were jealous of him. Hidimba also loved Bheem and hence she married him. She did not marry because of custom but because of true love. Hidimba was savitri. She never had interest in Karna like Drau and even protected Arjun.
So how can she be non-Aryan ? 😲She is so nice. I respect her.

this topic is not about HIdimba.. It's abt History .. I like her too..

Non Aryans were not barbaric. They were a civilized race. They were creator of Indus Valley Civilization.. It was Aryans who were barbaric before they invaded India.
Aryan became a civilized race after they settled in India. Almost after 1000 years of settling here they invaded city based civilization.

Mimi very thoughtful and nice post..

Being a Bengali I too was shocked at the Bibhison Ravan comparison part...

I mean this is totally different from what I have learned from my school..

Even DKDM showed that Ranvan was the greatest devotee of Lord Shiva only few months ago

Anyway I stopped watching starbharat and yesterday I watched it only for Karna's appearance..

By the way the CVS destroyed the most truthful friendship of the epic i.e Karna Duryadhan's friendship..

How you expect them to portray Rakhshas accurately!!!

I am just thankful that they didn't show Hidimba evil...

It has been quite long that CVs are making masaladar daily soap demeaning the glory of an epic - a literature .. Today they murdered another thing i.e HISTORY and I am not talking about Mytho-History but pure history here

What the heck it was in the name of Hidimba-Bheem wedding. It looked some uncultured brute or foolish creature from some fairy tale are jumping and doing silly attributes making silly gesture n postures .. what a disgusting way to make mockery of something. You showed rakshas as some dull headed creatures .. who has no brain no education and laughing stalk to so called developed race.

Let me remind you RAKSHASH means Non-Aryan Natives of this country. A very developed clan as much as Aryans if not more. Check History Rakshash aka non Aryans were quite advance in cultural field along with architecture, science and by social measure. do Not forget Rakshas aka non Aryan natives who once established "Indus valley civilization" was acquainted with URBAN civilization what Aryans was not. They have been mocked tortured and demeaned for ages but what is this even in modern days you people portraying them with such mean ways.

You must think what message you are giving to the new gen watching it. By being the native of our country they should be respected as our ancestors but such dishonoring depiction is a shame of us that still entertainment world display them nothing but a dull headed brainless creature..

You are right about this and rakshaah was a tribe who were cannibals and non meat eaters were Dravidian .who were pushed towards the southern part by Aryans who them self were barbarian after mingling with Dravidian they too started idol worship and Dravidian did yagnas

well thought evoking post .. well written Mimi

It was getting on my nerve that how disgustingly one can make mockery of a culture that too a culture that evolved in India n what gave us a civilization with which we can proudly say that we too have a civilization as ancient as Egyptian

but I really don't expect anything from this Star Bharat .. the way they are twisting and molding stories to glorify some specific character, the way they spoiled karna Duryadha story n making typical daily soaps out of an epic .. This is clear they are not interested in any kind of studies or research ..

Oh ok. I am so glad that you like Hidimba too. I agree they were shown in poor light.
Infact Hidimba was so powerful that she could have burnt entire Kuru army with a curse but kept quiet and let her son die for Arjun. What a sacrifice.. 👏 ⭐️

Well Not sure about this story. Are you sure ? But then Gandhari, Draupadi could potentially kill army with a curse. Draupadi infact is one of savitri.
Sorry.. This discussion is not related to this thread.

Let's take the Kunti-Hidimbi conversation in context. In the original, Kunti did allow the Bhima-Hidimbi marriage, but w/ conditions that they separate once Hidimbi has a son to take care of her.

Here, since they were adding things to the conversation, they added one about the propriety about a human-rakshasha marriage (or, if one prefers, an Aryan-Native marriage). Hidimba gave the example of Rishi Visharvas & Kaikesi the rakshashi and Kunti pointed out Ravan to demonstrate how that would be an inappropriate marriage. Hidimbi then took the example of Vibhishan as an illustration of what is possible, and promised that she'd raise her son to be virtuous.

Although in the story, while Ghatotkacha is only described for the good things he did for the Pandavas during the exile & the war, after his death, Krishna mentioned how he used to disrupt yagnas & persecute Brahmanas. So the real Hidimbi didn't do that great a job - she just accepted Bhima's main criteria that cannibalism be given up.
