Hi Guys,
I've been watching Jodha Akbar from the start of the show. I was a little skeptical knowing Balaji and Ekta were the brains behind the show - none the less I tuned in.
I want to share my thoughts on this - disclaimer - these are just my views, and the intent is not to offend or hurt anyone.
Initially I was drawn to the show because I like period stories and the costumes and sets were so colorful and regal. The show did start out with promise - the epic story (true or false has been debated many times - not going there) of a Mughal King and his Rajput Bride. A marriage that starts out as a political strategy and "hatred" which turns into a love tale that people still reference centuries later. So far so good - or so I thought.
Now all I see when I tune in is the same old Hindi Soap - Kitchen Politics. We have the male and female protagonists entering misunderstanding after misunderstanding and external elements that fuel this fire (aka Ruks and MA).
Since I'm located in the US I have the luxury of reading the written updates thanks to all the lovely volunteers who are kind enough to upload the written updates and then decide if I even want to waste 30 minutes watching MA plot and scheme and get away unscathed every time.
Does anyone else feel this way? If this show is about the epic love story of a Mughal King and his Rajput Bride - shouldn't we see more of them and how they get to know each other for who they are and not just know each other as King and Queen and how they develop an understanding and affection which turns into love?
Granted we have seen glimpses of this - Jalal clutching his heart in bewildered confusion - what are these unknown feelings stirring with him... Jodha's borderline obsessive concern for a husband who has no interest in what she has to say... so yes CVs are getting there but at serious snails pace - I think one week just for fun (since i'm a numbers person) I sat and calculated the percentage of screen time Jodha and Jalal had with one another vs all other scenes - the numbers were pitiful - not even half. Meaning MORE THAN HALF of the 2.5 hours screen time the show gets per week - we are watching all other characters and their vile schemes.
I think its high time CVs toned down the screen time for all the others and starting focusing more on the character development of Jalal and Jodha...
