@ EtherealRati
Actually SidT said that Rati was the first person he cast for the show, well before everyone else. So the other positions were still open. I agree that Laksh and Rati make a much better mother-son combination than Rohit-Rati would have, even though in the show Porus and Alexander are supposed to be the same age. Besides, Rohit and Sameksha are perfect as mother and son even though the actors are almost the same age in real life. 😆
I see what you mean about Laksh having a huge body and an innocent face and how that goes with the character of Porus. It works on this show because SidT didn't want to portray a 50 year old Porus with grown up sons and he wanted a fresh-looking face, which Laksh definitely has. And then look at Aditya playing Bamni - he looks the same age as his sons, as does Sunny playing Philip! 😆
I talked about 2 things: actor and character.
Neither Rohit nor I have put any other actor on the show down. I said that he managed to shine in spite of the other good actors on the show, that doesn't mean I said he was better than them. It means that he was able to hold his own considering many of them are much more famous than he has been and have been working for much longer too. Hence they are more experienced or have had much more exposure than him. For example, with Roxanne, a character we'd been waiting for, this didn't happen. The actress did quite well in Kalash and has a huge fan following from that show, but unfortunately it did not turn out to be as grand as we expected to see as the wife of Alexander. On the other hand, Shraddha Musale, who played Dasyurani, didn't have that much screen time, but she left her mark amongst all the other great actors on the show. She's quite famous for CID but only to those who watch that show, yet she managed to play something completely different from what people are used to seeing her do. With Chirag, who plays Dasyuraj, he was not very well known before this show, but he's done a great job so far.
As for the impact of Alexander, the character, you're right it's a matter of opinion but what LuckySnow and I are pointing out is that the weight of the legendary historical figure Alexander The Great influences people's minds when watching this show.
One last time: there are many actors I admire on this show. Some I knew of before, some I discovered here, but I only put my energy into writing about certain actors or characters because they are just higher up on my list. It doesn't mean that I don't like others.
I have watched Praneet in Mahabharat, Razia Sultan, Rishton Ka Chakravyuh and he's done a good job as Darius here, but I won't write about him at length because I'm not that into the character on this show. I love Rohit's performances but don't always like what Alexander's character does. I have openly criticized some of his activities here and feel comfortable doing so because for some reason those who hate Alexander don't object to that and those who love him are also open to pointing out the negative aspects of his arc. Same thing with Aditya/Bamni or Chetan Pandit/Chanakya - I love both actors but question their characters' motives often enough.
I watched Hitler Didi and Begusarai, so I am familiar with Rati's work and think she's doing well as Anusuya, but I refrain from writing much about her because people are over-sensitive and do not allow her character or its actions to be criticized without getting defensive or starting a mini war. Which is a shame because I often have a lot I want to say about her and analyze the character in detail but I choose to avoid it where possible just to maintain peace.
Anyway, I'm done having to clarify this. After all these months on this forum, I would have thought you'd know me well enough by now to realize that I don't insult or use harsh words for actors, ever.
The only person I show anger/bitterness towards is our SidT, that's it. I believe that feeling is unanimously supported at present on this forum.
