I was right! Ambhikumar is acting as a "double-agent", of sorts. đ Methinks his loyalty will change sides again, what with Alexander telling him that he has the right to it now. I had initially thought Alexander had sent Ambhikumar to PR as a spy/double agent, but that doesn't seem to be the case from the looks it.
What I would prefer is for Porus' attack on the Farsi camp to go ahead as planned and for Cleitus and his men to defeat them fair and square,
without any black magic involved. I do
not want Porus to suddenly have fits at the camp. Besides, based on today's episode Alexander probably won't be there to see it. I also want to see Barsine take a stand and say she isn't going to escape because it could hurt her people back home.
As I've said in a previous post, if the CVs so wish then Alexander will spot the effects of black magic on Porus but how can this be at the campsite if Alexander isn't even there? It's possible Alexander gets wind of a fleeing Porus and races after him, and it's during this chase that the black magic takes effect.
So then Alexander finds Porus' behavior strange, remembers Arrhidaeus, and figures out it is his mother's doing. He may not immediately guess that she has been taken captive but might think she decided to leave Taxila to do all this in seclusion so that Alexander can't stop her like last time. đ And only then does he go looking for her and find out she's missing. Or maybe he sends Cleitus to find her, who comes back empty-handed, and then Alexander spears him. đ They really need to lock Olympias away somewhere she can't see and hear every single thing that the Pauravengers are planning.
There are a couple of things that Alexander said that made me curious about his true intentions. First of all, he tells Ambhikumar that he missed the memo about the alliance with the Dasyus and the bridge-building exercise since he wasn't in town earlier on. So if Ambhikumar didn't know about the Dasyu alliance, how could he have betrayed Alexander by alerting Porus about the bridge? Or was he referring to Porus' will to destroy a bridge that Porus knew Alexander wanted to construct anyway, never once imagining that the Dasyus would be involved? Maybe Alexander does believe Ambhikumar and sees through the ploy but won't let on or maybe he's just going to be prepared both at the site of the bridge and at the camp.
Secondly, I find it hard to believe that Ambhikumar's message didn't trigger at least a niggling doubt in Alexander's mind about Barsine and Co or at least a sense of deja vu of the rescue mission in Faras. Perhaps his instructions to Hephaestion are intended for all his men being on the alert, and not just the ones near the bridge.
In yesterday's episode we saw a shrewd Alexander who had prepared the treaty in advance, presumably because he could read the Dasyu rulers' minds, despite having met them only once. And now, he can't anticipate the moves of Porus, the enemy he should know far better and has met several times? đ
As mentioned elsewhere on this thread, perhaps the fact that Alexander will not be paying attention to the camp will be the reason he doesn't fall into the trap/net, because "apparently" he doesn't know that the attack on the Farsi camp is the real plan. Putting nets in the river doesn't make sense to me, because even if the plan to attack the camp were to be discovered by Alexander or his generals, then why would the Macedonian soldiers swim across the river to chase Porus? And if crossing the river this way were feasible anyway, what would be the point of building the bridge? Surely Alexander's men won't chase Porus/Barsine by swimming across? They'd need horses or something.
Maybe the net is for the horses and not for Alexander. Or maybe Porus is now friends with crocodiles that will come out of the water to attack the trapped Macedonian soldiers. đ SidT probably wanted a return on his investment in training the actors in underwater swimming last year so the nets came in. đ And now the absentee King Hasti is going to support Porus with his absentee Sindhi soldiers too? đ
Now that Ambhikumar has been imprisoned, how would Ambhiraj feel about that? There is bound to be some conflict, either between father and son or between Ambhiraj and Alexander. I also want to see a face-off between Ambhiraj and Bamni to continue the old thread of enmity between them, perhaps during this attack itself. I think at least one death is coming up soon.
The CVs have now continued with their 100% track record of showing the painful side of being a prince/yuvraj/shehzaada. In Bharat you get thrown into prison and either you escape and become labeled a traitor and then a crown prince or you escape and then get killed at some point in the future. In Macedonia you end up being exiled or literally driven mad, if you don't die first. đ Actually when Alexander called Ambhikumar Shehzaada it sounded really strange - no one has addressed him with this much titular respect before. đ
Alexander really needs to stop giving his captives too many chances. Maybe this Barsine rescue mission will turn into Ambhikumar rescue mission when Porus finds out he's in jail. Alexander said he wouldn't kill Ambhikumar yet because he wanted another meeting in order to prove him a traitor, but after finding out that he was telling the truth, will Alexander suddenly start trusting him? I think until he figures it out, he's going to make sure Ambhikumar is unable to get out and communicate more information to Porus, or, more importantly, that if he hasn't been become a traitor yet then Porus can't get to him to turn him.
Also, what Bharat jaytu? Akhand Bharat hasn't been formed yet! This is all because of the upcoming Independence Day. You can bet something will happen on August 14/15. As predicted by many here, First Anusuya and now Porus has stolen Chanakya's thunder and is infringing on his copyright. đ Porus gave everyone a pep talk about fighting to protect the matrabhoomi but what they're doing is attacking the Farsi camp to rescue Barsine and Co. How is that a battle? A sneak attack with that many people involved would be interesting. The shaky "loyalty" of the PR soldiers makes me wonder how they have become sufficiently trained or disciplined to engage in this kind of guerrilla attack. I wonder if some of the PR soldiers themselves will be trapped in the net as they flee Taxila and forget about or are unaware of Porus' instructions not to travel back that way.
Now that Dasyu techniques are being used by both sides, which one will triumph? I am curious to see Porus' reaction when he finds out that the Dasyus have been helping to build the bridge. I do not think he will initially find out about the treaty that excludes them from having to fight PR, so Porus is likely to automatically assume they have joined hands with Alexander. Not that the Dasyus owe PR anything - they explicitly broke the alliance during Kanishk's funeral but this is bound to create another conflict of interest for Laachi.
Aunty, if we're keeping count is it Porus' or Alexander's turn to win this round? Porus ka kamaal ya Alexander ka jalaal?
PS: Rohit looked very handsome in the wind-swept look in the pre-cap.
