It happened when he was drinking, and he collapsed in great p ain. He died only after12 days, and he was in agony for 8-9 of those days. Before he slipped into a coma, he again and again asked for his sword, to put himself out of this misery.

Arsenic acts much faster, and strychnine too. The historians could not identify such a slow acting poison, and they fell back on food poisoning; there was a list of likely food items I saw somewhere.

He wanted to see only one person: his mother Olympias, but she was not there.

His boon companion and dearest friend, Hephaestion, had died 8 months earlier, of typhoid. Some felt that the acute and prolonged grief over Hephaestion's passing had weakened Alexander even physically, and that this had contributed to his inability to resist the poison.

The odd thing is that if Alexander was really proof against poisons, he could not have died of any kind of poisoning. I am not sure if this story, of his being poison proof, was true.

It was surely true of Chandragupta Maurya, who.was regularly fed small doses of poison by Chanakya.

I have read in the History text book that while returning to Babylon from Bharat Alexander dies due to weakness and his soldiers too rebelled against him. Alexander wanted to fight but his soldiers were weary. Don't know whether how far this is true.

No, of course Puru will not die.

I was sickened when I first saw that scene, of Puru, having ended his Tarzan style roar ( the only thing he didn't do was to beat his chest like the Lord of the Jungle, in raw triumph), was reduced to a pincushion by eight arrows, and slumped to the ground.

I thought that the CVs had finally completed their hatchet job on Alexander, which has been in the works since the beginning.

That they had reduced Alexander the Great --- one of the most redoubtable warriors and commanders the world has ever known, who never lost a battle, who has never been accused, even by hostile historians, of resorting to deceit to win a battle or a war --- to a cheap, deceitful villain who had an unarmed man shot down by his arc5hers in cold blood when he could not be checked in the arena.

Nothing could have redeemed Alexander's character after this, and as for the CVs, they had, I felt, plumbed the depths as far as script writing was concerned.

I practically decided to quit Porus from this week, for I could no longer stand such vicious character assassination of a man whose name still shines bright after more than 2300 years.

But then, almost against my will, I rewatched that scene, painful as it was. Then I realised that Alexander did not want to kill Puru, but to check him and immobilise him for the present
I think we will find that the arrows have been so fine tuned as not to hit any vital spot. Yes, it does sound unbelievable, but seeing how things go on in this script, nothing is impossible!

I would even hazard the guess that just as he did with the severely wounded Purushottam after the battle of the Hydaspes, now too Alexander will have Puru treated and restored to health.

He will do this so that, after having studied Puru's fighting tactics with lynx eyed keenness, Alexander will now want to pick his brains further about Bharat, so as to hone his fighting machine for the confrontation with Bharat that lies ahead. For by now, Alexander has grown to appreciate Puru's grey cells a great deal. His highly perceptive comments during the gladiatorial encounter make this crystal clear.

In mahabharat arjun killed karna when he was unarmed , kept on shooting arrows on pitama bheeshm by making shrikandini his shield when pitama was unarmed
Everything is fair in war , alex said in war more than body , brain should be utilise , where puru use body more than brain .

See puru said alexander will regret gladiator competition , see who is regretting

## i m not comparing mahabharat & alexander. As an example i said mahabharat thing

A stronger example would be that of Lord Rama shooting and killing Vali from hiding , without warning, and without any enmity between them

But no, my dear Deepika, this is one time when I don't agree with you. For this is not merely not the Mahabharata, it is, at this stage, not war either.

What Alexander appeared to have done tonight is beyond the pale, and would be a huge blot on his reputation. But I have a somewhat different take on it in my post. Do take a look at it.

Two people died today.
1.Puru died literally.Though he will obviously do a Jon Snow and return from the dead😆

2.Alexander died figuratively aka his character is butchered.Unless of coz Shyamala Aunty's prediction turns out to be true and Alex didn't intend to kill Puru but merely test him
