Many historians have that theory that Alexander and Hephastion were lovers while others deny it.
It's only a theory which is not proved.
I guess some historians believe Hephastion to be his lover because of the reason that Alexander was bisexual.
Hephastion was his closest friend and Alexander compared their relationship to that of Achilles and Patroclus.
However I guess it was only pure friendship and nothing else.
As far as Alexander's one true love is concerned then there is solid evidence to confirm the fact that Roxana was his one true love.
1.He didn't have to marry her and make her the queen. He could have taken her as a concubine. But he married her even before he married Stateira who was a princess and of a higher station than Roxana.

2.Many reports suggest that it was love at first sight for Alexander when he met Roxana.

Thanks for the info! I read it mostly on wiki which is pretty unreliable. There seems to be a historical letter that says Alexander was ruled by Hephaestion's thighs. The concept of love was different at the time anyway. Hardly any king was monogamous. Nor did they value fidelity too much, at least when it came to men.

Dear Black Sheep,

Keeping in mind the yearning in your opening post for something, anything, romantic for our favourite Alexander, here is a twist that might please you. I am not at all clever in predicting plot twists, but I shall risk a forecast for whatever it is worth!

Looking at the agonised expression in Barsine's face in the precap, while Darius is ranting against Alexander, what would you bet that she goes secretly to Alexander's camp that night, and requests him to spare her father's life the next day?

If they are intending to have Barsine develop tender feelings for Alexander, this would be an excellent way to justify that. He need not reciprocate right now - I don't think they will let Barsine supersede Roxanne- but he would be chivalrous and grant her request. Morever, he would be pleased that she is taking his victory for granted!

This said, Alexander was superb in the nearly unprecedented 11 minutes he got last night; the other 19 minutes going to Puru, the vishkanya, and the magarmacch in that order.😉😉 The seeti maar lines were marvellous - the sort of thing that the young Amitabh Bachchan thrived on the in 1970s - and Rohit delivered them with terrific panache, the rockhard self confidence seeping thru every word. I watched them three times, and still did not tire of them.

Still, my favourites among Rohit's Alexander moments are the one after his blow up with Philip in the open court, as he is going to his mother's rooms, and then recently, at Halicarnassus, when the whole crowd in cheering Sikandar!! Sikandar!!!, and Queen Ada is smiling at him with tender delight in her eyes.

Alexander looks around as he soaks in the applause, his tawny green eyes light up, but he neither smiles openly nor does he given any other overt sign of delight. He does not want to seem overly excited at the new title conferred on him; it is his right after all! Still, deep inside him is the little boy who seeks praise, and that is the aspect of his psyche that peeps out at that moment. It was a wonderful piece of emoting by Rohit, using his eyes alone.
