Alexshendra and Alecsundar is how he is referred in the rock edits of India, though that makes me wonder where did this word Sikandar come from

Persian sources wrote him as sikander 'ishkander' ...Persian language had huge impact on indians those days thus he was called sikander...Ashoka came when greek and indians were known to each other ...hence almost correct pronunciation
