Chapter 17
"You're right; I am in love with him." Sugni admitted to Amrita two days later. She could not lie to herself any more, and she had no idea how to deal with these feelings. She constantly felt like bursting into tears.
"Ha I knew it!...I was wondering how long it would take you to come out and say it ...that is wonder...hey why are crying, honey that's good news no?" Amrita said handing her a napkin.
Sugni shook her head. "No, This could never work, he does not even think like that about me, and you know how much he was in love with Reva, besides he went out on a date last night with this beautiful girl, and I swear in all the time I have been here I never saw him look as happy as he did after they came back". Sugni wiped her face.
"What? A date with who?" Amrita asked shocked. Sugni told her about his meeting with Sheila. Amrita sighed , "Sugni I think you are reading too much into this. Besides, if you say she was in town for a little while maybe she was just an old friend. As for Reva, yes it is true they had a very deep bond, and he will never forget her, but Sugni, that does not mean he can't love someone again. He is a man and sometimes they are dumb when it comes to matters of the heart, maybe what he needs is a push in the right direction."
"Amrita..No" Sugni was shaking her head.
"Sugni, do you think I would be this adamant with you if I thought it was just one sided? " Sugni stared at her.
"I have known Vickram over three years now, and in all that time I can tell you I have seen him do things for you that he would not do for others, I hear the way he talks about you. He cares deeply for you, I have seen the way he is around you the way he treats you. He either is oblivious to or does not want to admit his feelings to himself. I just wanted one of you to admit it" She smiled.
Sugni looked at Amrita who looked like she just won a jackpot. She could not believe in her words.
"You don't understand...this will never work...not with who I am..or where I came from.." She cried...
"Hold up? What do you mean who are you??? Sugni we talked about this...your past is just that the past. That is not who you are...Sugni you are a hardworking, diligent, who is determined to make a better life for herself. So what's not to love. And Vickram is not the type to judge!" Amrita said.
"But I can never be like Reva or you'or her, all polished and confident like . Believe me I have been thinking about this for a long time. He deserves someone who could match up to him. Someone who knows how act properly and make him happy." She said sadly.
"Sugni listen to me'.don't compare yourself to anybody. You are your own person. And those things you are talking about its easy to learn if you wish to. Your confidence will come with time. Vickram has a lot of women around him from high society , that you might think is "Perfect" for him. He dosen't want that. If people were to fall in love with someone because the fit, well would not have love stories would we. The heart and logic dosen't always match up. All that matters right now Sugni is that you love him, from here" she pressed her hand over her heart.
"I do" Sugni whispered ernestly
"Good..." She smiled "Don't fight it, trust yourself, and trust me a little."
Sugni looked at Amrita and nodded.
"now all that is left is to make Vickram realize it!' She laughed
"How?" Sugni asked, although she was afraid to she could not stop the ray of hope that lighted in her heart at Amrita's words.
"Oh leave that to me..." Amrita Smiled...

At exactly 6:15 Vickram pulled up at Amrita's town house and sounded his horn. A few minutes later the door opened and instead of Sugni who normally walked out , Amrita was walking down the lane by herself. Alarm bells started going off in Vickram's head had something happen to her?
"Amrita where is Sugni?" he asked looking at the door.
"Well hello to you to Vicky Babu! She said.
"Come in, she will be a little while. Unless you have another hot date!" She laughed
"What?" Vickram answered as he stepped out of the van.
"Oh nothing a little birdie told me you had a date yesterday I had no idea you were even looking yet alone met someone!" She laughed
Vickram chuckled , guessing the little birdie was Sugni. "it was nothing of the sort, she was Reva's child hood friend and was visiting her parents, we met and decided to catch up since she has to go back home tomorrow."
"OHhh, so is she cute are you seeing her again?' Amrita asked , winking at him.
"I don't know about cute but she is beautiful, and as for seeing her again, I don't know I guess that would depend on whether or not her husband would mind his wife going out with her friends widower!' He said dead pan.
"Ohhh." Amrtia said closing her eyes and letting out a sigh. He swore she mumbled "thank God " under her breath.
"What was that?" he asked
"UH..nothing ..nothing" She smiled .
Following her inside , he looked around but did not see Sugni. She led him to the back down some stairs which had to be the basement. he herd the music playing as he walked down as the passed through the entrance , he noticed Sugni, clad in what looked like a leotard and tights she was moving with the music.
"We are trying something new" Amrita whispered . "Dance therapy, it will help her release some of the tension, emotions, while it gives her a sense of freedom and control." She explained.
"Hmmm I see" He nodded.
"Have a seat I'll be right back" She told him as she left him to go back upstairs. Sitting on a chair at the corner of the room, Vickram observed Sugni as she danced. Her movements were smooth, her expression was serene like she was one with the music. She looked free. And for some reason he could not take his eyes of off her.
"She's just beautiful isn't she?' Amrita asked. When did she come back? She handed him a cup of tea. "I mean graceful, she is very talented at dancing."
"Hmmhmmm" he said.
"Your staring" She said
"Huh?" Vickram blink, realizing that he was.
"I know the first time I saw her dance, I was mesmerized." She said nonchalantly
The music ended, saving Vickram from replying, why was he embarrassed he had no idea.
"Hey you're here!" Sugni said her face red. "I'll just go change" She went upstairs leaving Vickram staring after her.

"So Sugni this Saturday after shopping , some of my girlfriends and I are going to check out this new pub, so we'll go right" Amrita asked as they walked out to the van.
"Uhhh a pub...I don't think so" She said
"Relax it's just some girlfriends and i am sure you'll like them...It will be fine." Amrita assured her.
"I don't think she is ready for that." Vickram said...he knew Sugni hated crowds.
"She'll be with me and besides it time to test the waters, I'll make sure no one approaches you ok! I promise!' Amrita said .
Vickram had a bad feeling about it, but stayed mum as she was the trained professional not him. But he did not like the idea one bit.
