frankly, Harshu, it's said that Shivaji's death was due to conspiracy by his own wife Soyarabai...but u won't get any official record supporting this claim...

btw, don't u remember Ruku and MA , while reading the woman conspiracies??😉😆

Is that so? I'm quite surprised. But,why would Shivaji's wife conspire against him?

From whatever I have known about Soyarabai, she was power hungry and ambitious for sure. And maybe that's why she turned out to be ruthless.
And I had read somewhere that there was a lot of conflict between Soyarabai and Shivaji Maharaj's first wife Sai Bai.Is that correct or is it just fabricated??

Certainly. He was the one who planted the seeds of the downfall of the Mughals. All the efforts which Akbar had done to consolidate the empire were wasted.
Akbar's policy of religious tolerance had won him the support of the Hindu kings. But Aurangzeb reversed that completely.
Aurangzeb was too obsessed with his racism on the basis of religion that it blinded him to everything else.

to get the throne for her own son...Sambhaji was her step son, and he very well knew how much power hungry Soyrabai was...and he was against her, but his rebellious nature helped Soyrabai to create rift btw Shivaji and Sambhaji...and when she felt that the relationship btw them will be better, she did everything , she can to get the throne for rajaram...

but Sambhaji returned back to kingdom soon after Shivaji's death, claimed his throne, captured Soyrabai, and beheaded her , declaring her the traitor...

later when Sambhaji was killed by Auranzeb and his wife Yesubai, and Son Shahu were arrested, so Rajaram got the throne..

I feel that since women were not allowed to exhibit their capabilities openly and rule directly they adopted an indirect method of ruling. They wished to rule through their husbands and sons. That's why Soyarabai wanted her son on the throne.
But from whatever I know about her she was cruel for sure.

that's right...actually, Saibai, Shivaji's first wife was his childhood friend, and the love of his life too... so till she was alive, Soyrabai never got same love from Shivaji...though Soyrabai got every right of a wife and respect of a queen, still the love and respect Saibai got from Shivaji, was stayed like that even after Saibai's death...and like Saibai, Shivaji's another wife Putlabai, was the one closer to Shivaji as his friend after Saibai's death... I think that can be the reason for Soyrabai's hatred , and then Sambhaji was close to Putlabai, so there was a chance that if Sambhaji gets the throne, then Putlabai will be queenmother...

so the ambitious Soyrabai did everything she coud to gain the power...

but this second wife of shivaji opted to take "Sati" root after Shivaji's death...

@sweet diksha,so that explains Soyarabai's hatred.Though it doesn't justify her actions. The love and respect which Saibai inspired in Shivaji,Soyrabai could never do that.
