Viewers want a ban on 'Pehredaar Piya Ki'; start a campaign for the same

TNN | Updated: Aug 10, 2017, 12:39 PM IST
Sony TV's new show 'Pehredaar Piya Ki' has been receiving a lot of criticism as they show romance between a 9-year old little boy and a 19-year old girl and their marriage.

Ever since the show got aired, it has been getting a lot of negative reviews on social media stating the entire plot as bizzare and misleading the concept of child marriage.

The show became more crazy when they showed a weird pervert behaviour by the young boy who stalked his better half at a small age. Things went out of limit, when recently, the show is revolving around their honeymoon.

After the illogical presentation of child marriage, the makers went more creepy by putting a honeymoon sequence in the show. Also there are not so comfortable dialogues in the show like "He is a kid, and we don't know when he will be big enough to satisfy you." Awkward right?

The show is becoming an excuse for Indian TV to linger in its regressive comfort zone.

So after few episodes got aired on TV shocking the viewers, they decided to start a campaign to ban this weird show.

One of the viewers started a campaign on change.org to ban this show as this obnoxious and perverted series can severely impact impressionable minds of children.

Till now 75 people have signed the petition and more are counting.

The show has been promoted as an unusual eternal love story but this is where pedophilia and child marriage come in which are celebrated in the show.

Though similar relationships have been shown earlier on TV like Balika Vadhuhighlighting social issue like child marriage but in Pehredaar, the boy is not a victim. He is shown as a romantic hero impressing an older woman.

These people are hilarious and their hypocrisy is amusing. I am so so soo glad these pervert, sick minded people were not around during 'Gulaal' days..given a chance they would have ruined that beautiful show with their nasty thinking. Or should I say I am glad that these people didn't have much access to weapon called 'social media' back then. It's hilarious and absurd to see the way they are misusing this weapon just for anything 😆

Anything to be a part of social media 'trend' and anything to come across as so called 'progressive' samaj-sevaks. May they be blessed with shows like Game of thrones and outlander.

I am sure most of the people who are complaining have not even watched a single episode.
Well we cannot change anyone's thinking so let them carry on.

what happens to freedom of speech or expression right of an individual.

We talk about secularism /democracy etc etc, but the moment someone says something we are not comfortable with or their ideas does not match ours we start all this drama ..

In the name of democracy and freedom of speech, expression etc can't cross the line showing vulgarity next time they want to show another serial with 10 year old boy having some weird sexual fantasies about 20 year old woman. So obviously that will be fine for some progressives or regressives actually but majority may not like is democracy not about majority opinion? so where should the line be drawn?

FYI: Thus far none of the episodes contained any "vulgarity" or "10 year old boy having some weird sexual fantasies about 20 year old woman." This is serious distortion of facts.
