I had posted an analysis/thoughts for yesterday's episode feb 5th 2014 - regarding Raunak and Kinnari's characters.
Seriously match made in heaven - I do concur with most of your comments regarding Raunak and Kinnari. Both of them are sorry excuses for humans. I'd think that even animals have more compassion for one another - Raunak and Kinnari are just so low.
Raunak's logic for raping Mansi becoz his wife didn't want to sleep with him makes zero sense.
I haven't followed the Soham track ( i stopped watching PR in the middle and I might have to stop again) but I did see a few episodes with him and Gauri.
Here are my thoughts about Soham - he isn't AS bad as Raunak. With that said here is my reasoning - from all the scenes I saw with Gauri and Soham - Gauri clearly was not interested in Soham romantically - she was being nice and polite and Soham mis-read her actions and fell in love with her. Upto that point I sympathized with him - it hurts a lot when you start having feelings for a person only to realize they don't see you in that same light. That sort of rejection is hard for a lot of people to handle. In Soham's case - he went ballistic and possessive - he wanted to make Gauri his at any cost (he did some pretty bad things in the process - sneaking into Sachin's hospital room to hurt him etc) however the one thing that he didn't do was purposely inflict physical harm on Gauri. Please note the choice of words I have used - I am not condoning any of Soham's antics past or present but I will say (from what I saw) his intent wasn't to physically harm Gauri - if anything he'd torment her mentally or react to Gauri's threats or stand in the way of any one who tried to get Gauri away from him. There-in lies the difference - which makes Soham just a hair better than Raunak.
Raunak is all about power and ego - he's been lusting after Mansi (pretty much any pretty girl really) and her consistent refusal, Ankita's refusal etc has his ego further bruised. Its nothing more than a power play on his part - he wanted to teach Mansi a lesson, he wanted to be in control - he's malicious and spiteful - calling Mansi's MIL and disclosing Mansi's rape - its all about power and personal satisfaction.
As for Kinnari the less is said the better - she's a pathetic excuse for a woman and I have no idea what it would take for her to realize the severity of her actions.

The other point I wanted to address was about Soham murdering Gauri - so I didn't watch PR regularly in those days so I may have missed something.
All I remember is before the 20 year leap - he was trying to kidnap Gauri - I don't know if he succeeded and in that struggle she died or what exactly happened. Was that ever clarified? From what we've learned so far - Soham has 2 wives - Ankita, Mansi and Prashant are from wife 1 and the 2 kids Sonu and Pranav are from wife 2 who left the family - reasons unknown. So wife 1 and 2's identity/names have not been disclosed (not that I recall) and wife 1 has not been confirmed to be Gauri (again not that i know)
Did I miss something or is this speculation on the part of forum members?

Soham is totally adorable and also my favorite male character in the show.
Among the females I like Ovi and Pia, I used to like Purvi before the entry of Onir and I LOVED Punni Taai, I don't know why I just love how dramatically vamps are presented in Ekta soaps with so much eye shadow and every drop of blood oozing with conspiracies and evilness 😆

Example : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpYnd9kPYdg

Currently I am praying hard that PR doesn't go off air as I have this insane obsession of watching it five days a week on my TV 😆

Besides I am watching Qubool Hai and Tumhaari Pakhi, which are totally adorable too. 😆

Love ya guys!

Seriously?

I mean gauri was murdered, if she wasn't in the way then definetly Sachin would have lost his life.

I think most people are saying yes that there is still a bit of humanity left in soham.
Even I admit to that. Yes, he does have a little bit of humanity left in him.

But what people are getting at is that soham didn't do time for murder!

We all want raunak to be punished! Yes! In fact if there was such a person like raunak in our immediate vicinity, we'd all probably want to kill him with our own bare hands!

But pray tell why should soham not be punished?

Both are murderers.

Soham actually killed a girl, Raunak killed a girl from inside.

And how mental was soham acting, it sure felt like gauri was in danger of being raped.

Like I said people need to watch those episodes again and see for themselves.

I would have felt sorry for him if he had accepted and taken responsibility for his actions.

And if you see it another way, if soham HAD taken responsibility, his daughters would not be in such a bad situation.

They would have grown up with the deshmukhs, comfortably, with no money worries. Ankita would never have met Naren and even if she had, Mansi would not have been raped by raunak because situations would have been better or different. And although I like ankita/naren Jodi the fact is ankita probably would have married shashank herself, like it was originally planned.

If only soham wasn't a drunkard.

One is a murderer, Another is a rapist. One is not better than the other.

I agree with the view that even though what Soham did to Gauri was disgusting and desrving of some kind of punishment, there are not many parallels between Soham and Raunak.

Here is my humble POV -

The entire trajectory of Soham's life has been full of pathos. He was abducted when still a toddler and was raised in most dubious circumstances to become a dangerous gunda by his foster father for his own selfish motives. He did get punishments for his various crimes and was about to turn around as a good person when Archana and Manav's decision to hastily get Sachin engaged to Gauri changed everything. While I greatly empathized with Gauri and really wanted Soham punished for what he did to her, I still thought that a major mistake was on the part of his parents. Could they not have paid more attention to making Soham a successful businessman rather than hurrying to get Sachin's life settled in every way? Still the fact that Gauri had to die because of Soham is horrible and he should have been punished for that. Yet everyone who commits a crime is not equally evil.

Soham became an obsessive lover who saw in Gauri the brightest ray of hope to turn his life around. Shattering of that hope led him to complete regression where he lost all sense of good or bad. But he had not been shown to misbehave with any girl even when he was a young gunda. He actually protected Purvi a couple of times from gundas. If he had not been shocked out of his senses with Gauri's engagement with Sachin (and it does matter that he was Soham's brother), he probably would have become a successful businessman in due course. Probably Gauri would never have said yes to him; but his secure confidence would have been able to handle it. The Sachin-Gauri engagement was arranged when Soham's confidence was still too fragile.

As for his relationship with his wives, we know very little. It is possible that his first wife's love changed him for some time and that is why she asked her sister to marry him on her deathbed. And then may be the loss of someone whom he loved once again led him to extreme alcoholism that resulted in his second wife running away. This is only a guess; but it is possible. Whatever we think about his two wives will remain a guess until the CVs decide to clarify.

Raunaq is a completely different case. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and has been given the best of everything by his parents. His elder brother pampers him like a child. He has always had everything going for him. But he is arrogant and a lecher who cannot look at any girl with respect. He was shown boasting about how he can get any girl he wants in front of his friends before he finally raped Mansi. He even tried to misbehave with a woman much older than him (Purvi). What he does to women is not due to some kind of attraction, but because of his arrogance and lack of respect for them. He is simply disgusting.

So, even if somehow Soham's crime - how Gauri died because of his acts - is brought to the courts and he is given severe punishment (which in my view should happen for proper closure with justice for Gauri), he still remains miles apart from Raunaq the lecher.
